    摘要: An internal combustion engine may have an engine block having a plurality of cylinders. The internal combustion engine may also have a piston reciprocatingly mounted with each cylinder and defining a combustion chamber therebetween. The internal combustion engine may also be configured with a fuel injector communicating fuel to the combustion chamber, the fuel creating a plurality of flame plumes when ignited. The internal combustion engine may also have a piston crown extending from the piston and defining a piston bowl, the piston crown including a circumferential wall terminating in a top ledge. Further, the internal combustion engine may include a plurality of fluid passageways in the piston crown, each fluid passageway including an ingress in the top ledge and an egress in the circumferential wall proximate the piston bowl.

Each of the first type of protrusions has a shape of a longitudinal ridge that extends only in the outer bowl area. The first type of protrusions have a left side flank and a right side flank of the ridge when seen from the injector. The left side flank is formed differently compared to the right side flank in order to redirect the movement of a flame plume progressing towards the left side flank in a plane perpendicular to the reciprocal movement, differently compared to corresponding flame plume progressing, towards the right side flank.

    摘要: A geometry for an IC combustion chamber is disclosed that increases the air-fuel mixing efficiency within the chamber. The piston head includes a squish surface portion for generating a squish jet, and a bowl portion that cooperatively with the cylinder head defines a combustion volume. A horizontal channel extends between the squish surface portion and the bowl portion, and is adapted to provide a high-momentum jet into the bowl portion. A transverse channel may also be provided that directs the squish flow toward the horizontal channel, thereby generating a toroidal vortex therein. A premix fuel injector may inject fuel near the upstream end of the horizontal channel. A converging nozzle portion near the distal end of the horizontal channel may increase the flow speed into the bowl portion. A chamber fuel injector is disposed near the downstream end of the horizontal channel.

    摘要: To provide an improved heat insulating structure in which the movement of air in the air space of a heat insulating layer is permitted as small as possible thus giving a higher heat shielding effect. A heat insulating layer of an air space is provided between a center tube and an external heat shielding tube in a fuel injection nozzle and a carbon getter is disposed at an interface between the heat insulating layer and a combustion chamber. When a combustion gas moves into the carbon getter, its carbon components are trapped and accumulated thus blocking between the heat insulating layer and the combustion chamber. As the heat insulating layer is isolated, its inside air remains stagnate increasing the heat shielding effect. This srtacture has been appied to the pre-combustion chamber.
