Abstract:
A combustion chamber may include a first surface and a second surface interconnected by a wall forming a chamber having a central axis. The first surface may define an exhaust opening and the second surface defining a pilot opening, wherein the exhaust opening and the pilot opening align along the central axis. A plurality of inlet ports may be configured to deliver air to the chamber. A plurality of fuel ports may be arranged on an inside of the second surface to deliver fuel to the chamber. The air flow from the inlet ports and fuel from the fuel ports may oppose each other to create a vortex of product proximal to the second surface.
Abstract:
Low NOx emission industrial burner, adapted to operate both in a flame or stage mode and in a flameless mode, so that also the heating step of the chamber of a furnace may be made by means of the same burner, without providing a pilot burner, thus ensuring very low NOx emissions for the whole operation range of the burner and for the whole range of temperatures in the chamber. The combustion process, made by means of said burner, provides for the possibility to combine the stage mode operation with the flameless mode operation.
Abstract:
A burner for a gas combustor and a method of operating the burner are disclosed. The burner includes a front surface area divided into a plurality of subareas and inlets arranged on the front surface area such that each subarea is encircled by at least four inlets and such that during operation of the burner, a gas recirculation in the combustor is facilitated corresponding to each subarea.
Abstract:
The present invention is an air-staged low NOx burner for firing a gaseous fuel. The burner fires three stages, with the first stage of combustion taking place substantially within a burner cup section of a refractory baffle, the second stage of combustion taking place adjacent to the baffle and downstream of the baffle, and the third stage of combustion within a furnace. The flow of main combustion air adjacent to the baffle creates a negative pressure zone adjacent to the baffle. The present invention is also a method for low NOx staged combustion.
Abstract:
An ultra low NOx burner for process heating is provided which includes a fluid based flame stabilizer which provides a fuel-lean flame at an equivalence ratio in the range of phi=0.05 to phi=0.3 and fuel staging lances surrounding the flame stabilizer in circular, flat, or load shaping profiles, each lance comprising a pipe having a staging nozzle at a firing end thereof, each lance having at least one hole for staging fuel injection, and each hole having a radial divergence angle and an axial divergence angle. The at least one hole and the divergence angles provide circular, flat or load shaping flame pattern. The burner provides NOx emissions of less than 9 ppmv at near stoichiometry combustion conditions.
Abstract:
A flat-flame burner for reheat, holding, and heat-treatment furnaces for treating iron and steel products. It has at least one fuel-injection pipe lying along the axis of the body of the burner, a combustion tunnel and a combustion-air feed, the air being distributed in and by the body. The fuel is introduced via the injection pipe or pipes through at least one axial orifice lying in a plane close to the external plane of the combustion tunnel, into the combustion products. This produces a first dilution of the fuel in these combustion products, the fuel/combustion products mixture thus obtained being diluted further in the combustion air.
Abstract:
A burner assembly for a furnace or like device having a firebox defining a combustion zone. The burner assembly includes a first annular tile defining a centrally located path for a flow of combustion air and a second annular tile concentric with the first annular tile. The second annular tile has an internal diameter which is larger than an external diameter of said first annular tile, and the second annular tile is positioned in surrounding relationship relative to at least a portion of said first annular tile so that a ring-shaped conduit is defined therebetween. The tiles are adapted for placement in the combustion zone of the furnace with the conduit in direct fluid communication with flue gases surrounding the combustion zone. The arrangement is such that combustion air flowing along said path induces a flow of flue gas through the conduit for entrainment by the flow of combustion air. The assembly may also include a gas jet positioned adjacent an inlet to said conduit providing a flow of gas for admixture with said flow of flue gas. A method is also disclosed whereby the burner assembly is used for introducing RFG into the combustion zone to thereby efficiently and effectively reduce the NO, content of furnace flue gas produced when air and fluid fuel are combusted in a combustion zone of a furnace.
Abstract:
A combination burner which uses primary and secondary fuel injection and improves liquid propane combustion. The burner supplies primary air, while secondary air is swirled to shape and mix the flame when the burner is firing "on oil". When the burner is firing "on gas", primary air enters the burner through an annulus at the atomizing air pipe or conduit so as to have the primary gas enter that pipe; secondary gas is injected radially into the air stream at a downstream location relative to an atomizing nozzle. In using liquid propane (butane) to fire the burner, two stage fuel injection is used, with a stream of fuel being injected upstream and toward the burner centerline and another stream of fuel being injected downstream and outwardly away from the burner centerline.
Abstract:
A gas burner is described, provided with a connection for supplying a mixture of combustible gas and combustion air, and a burner pack comprising a plurality of stacks of at least one metal plate which is deformed transversely to its flat plane, and at least one flat metal plate on both sides of each deformed plate, which stacks of burner plates are separated by a solid filler and said plates with their main surfaces being parallel to the flow direction of the gas/air mixture, wherein per stack the flow direction of the gas/air mixture from the flow channels bounded by said deformed plate and said flat plates is the same.According to the invention, each stack of burner plates comprises two or more deformed plates.
