摘要: Disclosed is a monoblock or cooling channel piston and a method for producing a monoblock piston for use in an internal combustion engine. A piston blank includes a circumferential collar protruding radially in the region of the piston crown is first produced and the collar is then shaped. A contact region on a top region of the piston skirts and the collar is shaped such that the outer circumferential edge thereof points at a distance to the contact region and forms a defined gap. The gap is then sealed by a closure element in order to form a closed cooling channel.

摘要: A pre-finished piston part is disclosed that may be used to form a piston assembly. A pre-finished piston may include a lower part defining a piston axis, the lower part having a skirt and forming a lower surface of a cooling gallery. The lower part may include a radially inner bowl surface defining a lower part radially inner mating surface. The pre-finished piston assembly may further include an upper part having a radially outer bowl surface meeting the radially inner bowl surface at a radially inner joint. The upper part may include a radially inner wall defining a radially inner upper part mating surface. The radially inner wall may define a radially inwardly facing surface that defines a non-parallel angle with the radially inner bowl surface where the radially inner bowl surface meets the radially innermost edge of the radially inner mating surface.

摘要: A galleryless piston including a ring belt with three ring grooves is provided. Each ring groove is formed by an uppermost wall and a lower wall spaced from one another by a back wall. A pair of pin bosses depend from the upper wall, and pair of skirt panels depend from the ring belt and are coupled to the pin bosses by struts. An inner undercrown region is surrounded by the skirt panels and the struts and the pin bosses. A pair of outer pockets extend along the undercrown surface, and each outer pocket is surrounded by a portion of the ring belt and one of the pin bosses and the struts coupling the one pin boss to the skirt panels. The third ring groove includes an oil drain slot extending through the back wall to the outer pockets of the piston for conveying cooling oil.

摘要: A galleryless piston having a reduced temperature during operation in an engine is provided. The piston includes an upper wall with an exposed undercrown surface. A ring belt and pin bosses depend from the upper wall, and a pair of skirt panels depend from the ring belt and are coupled to the pin bosses by struts. The piston includes an inner undercrown region and outer pockets extending along the undercrown surface. The inner undercrown region is surrounded by the skirt panels, the struts, and the pin bosses. Each outer pocket is surrounded by one of the pin bosses, a portion of the ring belt, and the struts adjacent the one pin boss. A plurality of holes extend through the pin bosses and/or the struts from the inner undercrown region to one of the outer pockets to convey cooling oil from the inner undercrown region to the outer pockets.

摘要: A piston with a cooling gallery containing an open cell radiator is provided. The radiator has a large thermally conductive surface area that acts as a heat-sink to remove heat from the piston. Heat from the piston is transmitted from the radiator to cooling oil that enters the cooling gallery via an oil inlet formed in a floor of the cooling gallery and exits the cooling gallery via an oil outlet. The piston comprises a piston body including an upper part presenting an upper combustion surface and an undercrown surface. A ring belt depends from the upper combustion surface, and the cooling gallery extends around the piston body beneath the undercrown surface radially inwardly of the ring belt. The radiator includes a plurality of fins extending annularly around the cooling gallery. The fins of the radiator are spaced from one another by gaps extending annularly around the cooling gallery.

A guide element may be disposed in a region of the inlet opening configured to catch an incident coolant jet. The guide element may guide the coolant jet into the cooling duct and deflect the coolant jet in precisely a circumferential direction along the cooling duct.

摘要: A piston cooling apparatus includes: a main body including a communication passage communicating with an oil path formed in an internal combustion engine; a nozzle pipe portion including an oil injection port configured to inject oil having passed through the communication passage toward a piston; and a filter disposed upstream of the nozzle pipe portion on the flow passage of the oil and including a hole having a smaller diameter than the minimum diameter of the oil injection port, the oil being injected toward the piston from the oil injection port, wherein: the filter is removably mounted on the outer surface of the outer wall portion of the main body existing upstream on the oil flow passage; and the main body is mounted on the internal combustion engine in a state where at least a portion of the filter is inserted into the oil path.
