In at least one further position of the shut-off device (10, 10′), the unit (1) is capable of shutting off the flow path (9) in such a way that the shut-off device (10, 10′) and the unit casing (2) form an area (20), which is separated from the flow path (9) and which is sealed off from the inlet side (5) and the outlet side (6), and the pump-drive module (11, 11′) is arranged at least partially inside this area (20).

摘要: A mechanically reconfigurable marine propulsion device that adapts to engine torque and/or vessel speed thereby providing improved propulsive efficiency and performance. The axial flow propulsion device has two or more stages each having an impeller section and a stator section. Stator vanes and/or the pumping chamber provide a flow diffusion that generates increased hydrostatic pressure from ram pressure recovered from high velocity working fluid which, due to reduced fluid velocity and increased hydrostatic pressure, lowers cavitation events and frictional losses within the propulsion device. Optionally, variable-pitch vanes in the stator section control the amount of ram pressure imparted to the working fluid. Also optionally, variable-pitch inlet guide vanes control the whirl angle and/or mass flow rate of incoming fluid independently of rotor or vessel speed. A set of fixed or variable exit guide vanes aft of the pumping chamber provides flow straightening and pressure maintenance at a discharge nozzle. Other options include a dual flow concentric pumping arrangement that improves performance at low to moderate vessel speeds, an inlet diffuser that recovers ram pressure within an intake duct, and/or a variable area throat in the discharge nozzle that controls the water jet exit velocity according to vessel speed in order to maintain propulsive efficiency. Advantageously, the variable geometry propulsion device enables a shipmaster to achieve improved performance and fuel efficiency over a wide range of vessel speed, vessel loading, sea state conditions, power settings, and/or engine set points in order to achieve higher vessel speeds (e.g., 10 to 30 kts) and/or greater range (e.g., 25-40%) over conventional marine pump jets (i.e., centrifugal or mixed-flow waterjets), which is particularly useful for vessels utilizing 10 to 100 megawatt power plants.

摘要: Pre-rotational swirl controller for rotary pumps having a flow duct enclosed by a casing and a plurality of guide vanes located substantially radially within it. Each of these has two bearings, i.e. one on a hub located centrally and one on a trunnion which passes through the casing and which is also acted upon by an adjusting device. The guide vanes can be radially assembled through the casing because, for each guide vane, there is a removal slot which is closed by a cap which carries the seal and the bearing for the guide-vane trunnion, these being designed so as to be tolerant of alignment errors. A self-locking setting gear with a large transmission ratio and a through drive shaft is provided for the adjustment.

摘要: An impeller pump with thermostatically adjustable swirl-vanes, in use as an automotive engine-driven coolant pump. Flow variation is controlled by varying the orientation of the swirl-vanes. A change in orientation is effected by a thermal driver, e.g a wax-type thermostat, which senses coolant temperature. The swirl-vanes boost the flowrate when the coolant is hot, and decrease it when the coolant cools. The swirl-vanes are mounted for pivoting, and are located just upstream from the pump impeller. The traditional engine-thermostat function is provided inside the pumping-chamber, in that the swirl-vanes can be operated to close off a port to the engine radiator. The thermal driver opens the radiator-port as the coolant goes from Cold to Warm; as the coolant goes from Warm to Hot, the thermal driver operates the swirl-vanes from flow-reduce to flow-boost.

摘要: An impeller pump with thermostatically adjustable guide vanes is suitable for use as an automotive coolant pump. The pump is driven by a constant speed electric motor, and flow variation is controlled by varying the orientation of the vanes. Orientation of the vanes is effected by a wax-type thermostat, which senses coolant temperature: flow is increased when the coolant is hot, and decreased as the coolant cools. The variable guide vanes are mounted for pivoting about radial axes, and are located just upstream from the pump impeller.
