Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a hardened casing for a vane pump is disclosed. The method includes providing a vane pump casing; hardening the casing by (i) cleaning the casing with a high pressure fluid containing abrasive material, (ii) loading the casing in a furnace, (iii) purging the furnace with an inert gas followed by purging the furnace with ammonia, (iv) conducting a first heating of the casing in the furnace at a first temperature of about 1200° F. for a time period of about 4 hours, (v) conducting a second heating of the casing in the furnace at a second temperature of about 1000° F. for a time period of about 4 hours, and (vi) cooling the casing and purging the furnace with an inert gas before removing the casing.
Abstract:
An axial piston machine includes a housing having a casting which is optimized with respect to casting. An insert ring which is optimized with respect to a pressure load is formed in the bottom of the housing. The insert ring is configured to be used with such an axial piston machine.
Abstract:
A piston for diesel engine applications has a piston body cast entirely of one piece of steel and includes a piston head with a combustion bowl, a ring belt and an oil cooling gallery. A pair of pin bosses and a piston skirt are cast as one piece with the piston head out of the same steel material.

Abstract:
A rotary compressor comprises a cylinder having an inner space and a groove, a roller sliding along the inside of the inner space of the cylinder, a vane penetrating through the groove, and refrigerant. The groove penetrates through the outside and inner space of the cylinder. The vane slides on the roller, and the vane also slides in and out of the groove. The vane includes stainless steel formed by sintering of powder material, a nitrogen diffusion layer disposed on the surface of the stainless steel, and a compound layer of iron and nitrogen disposed on the surface of the nitrogen diffusion layer. The stainless steel has a plurality of fine pores formed by sintering of powder material. The plurality of fine pores have a porosity of 15% or less.

Abstract:
A cylinder head has a cast iron body member, one end of which is recessed to accommodate a circular disk-like insert of an iron, chromium, nickel alloy. The insert forms one wall of the water jacket portion of the cylinder head, and its external surface provides the combustion surface of the cylinder head. The periphery of the insert is spaced inwardly of the bolt holes and water ports of the cylinder head. The insert also has boss portions which form the lower part of the valve port bosses and the injector boss. The insert is brazed to the body member at its periphery and at the abutting boss portions. The flange at the opposite end of the cylinder head is cast steel. When fabricated as a new part, the body member may be of cast steel and integral with the flange.
