摘要: A method of operating a combined cycle power plant to facilitate increasing an output of the power plant. The method includes discharging a first exhaust gas stream from a gas turbine engine and extracting heat from the first exhaust gas stream via a heat recovery steam generator. The method also includes discharging a second exhaust gas stream from the heat recovery steam generator, pressurizing a first portion of the second exhaust gas stream using a recirculation compressor, and cooling the first portion of the second exhaust gas stream using a first cooler. The method further includes discharging a cooled exhaust gas stream from the first cooler to the gas turbine engine and modulating, via a controller, a flow and a temperature of the first portion of the second exhaust gas stream recirculated towards the gas turbine engine.

摘要: Organic water conditioning agents may be added to an aqueous stream that is supplied to a steam generator, such as a heat recovery steam generator within a combined cycle power plant. These organic water conditioning agents may degrade to electrically-charged decomposition products that can interfere with cation conductivity measurements made on the aqueous stream. To allow deployment of the organic water conditioning agents, a sampling device can process aqueous samples to destroy interfering organic molecules, such as through heat or irradiation. Cation conductivity measurements can then be made on the aqueous sample after destroying and removing interfering organic species from the sample stream.

摘要: A power plant is operable to provide primary frequency control for a grid. The power plant includes a gas turbine operable to power a first generator that is synchronized to the power grid and to produce an exhaust gas, the gas turbine operated at a power level that defines a non-zero first MW margin and including a first control system having a first droop setting, and a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) operable to generate high pressure steam in response to the passage of the exhaust gas through the HRSG. A steam turbine is operable to power a second generator that is synchronized to the power grid, the steam turbine is operated at a power level that defines a non-zero second MW margin and includes a second control system having a second droop setting, the second droop setting set to a value based at least in part on the second MW margin. The first control system calculates the first droop setting based at least in part on the first MW margin, the second droop setting, the second MW margin, and a regional required total droop for the combination of the gas turbine and the steam turbine.

摘要: A combined cycle power plant includes a gas turbine engine that includes a compressor having a compressor inlet, a compressor outlet, and an interstage inlet defined therebetween. The turbine also includes a turbine outlet configured to discharge a first exhaust gas stream therefrom. A heat recovery steam generator is configured to receive the first exhaust gas stream, extract heat from the first exhaust gas stream, and discharge a second exhaust gas stream therefrom. Either a recirculation compressor pressurizes a first portion of the second exhaust gas stream for recirculation towards the compressor interstage inlet, or an admission compressor pressurizes an air stream directed towards the compressor interstage inlet. A first cooler cools the stream directed to the compressor, thereby defining a cooled stream, wherein the first cooler provides the cooled stream to the interstage inlet of the compressor.

The retention system includes a first sleeve configured to extend between opposite first and second walls of the duct, a first cable extending through the first sleeve, and a first bumper coupled to the first sleeve. The first bumper is configured to contact the heat exchanger. The retention system includes a first tensioner coupled to the first cable, wherein the first tensioner is configured to provide a first tension in the first cable. The first tension is adjustable to detune the natural frequency of the heat exchanger away from any excitation load frequencies caused by an exhaust gas flow through the duct.

摘要: An airflow control system for a combined cycle turbomachine system in accordance with an embodiment includes: an airflow generation system for attachment to a rotatable shaft of a gas turbine system, the airflow generation system drawing in an excess flow of air through an air intake section; a mixing area for receiving an exhaust gas stream produced by the gas turbine system; an air extraction system for extracting a first portion of the excess flow of air to provide bypass air, and for diverting the bypass air into the mixing area to reduce a temperature of the exhaust gas stream; and an airflow regulation system for diverting a second portion of the excess flow of air into the compressor component and, in response to an under-frequency grid event, for increasing the second portion of the excess flow of air diverted into the compressor component.
