    摘要: A method for controlling a self-energizing disc brake having an electric actuator in which an activation force applied to the actuator is amplified using a self-energizing device arranged between the actuator and brake lining is described. The method has a brake application unit for applying at least one brake lining to one side of a brake disc by carrying out an application movement of the brake lining relative to the brake disc, the application movement having at least a first movement component in a direction parallel to a rotational axis of the brake disc and a second movement component in a direction tangential to the rotational axis of the brake disc. The method includes also controlling at least one electromotive drive for activating the brake application unit. Rotation of the shaft of the electromotive drive is converted to a non-linear displacement of the brake pad in the tangential direction.

    摘要: An electromechanical brake for motor vehicles having a selflocking-free spindle that is electromotively moved bidirectionally in a longitudinal direction in order to press at least one brake lining against a rotating friction element in an advancing stroke and and in order to release the brake lining in a restoring stroke. The brake also has a plate-shaped coupling member between the spindle and the brake lining. The coupling member engages directly with the spindle and is supported against the brake lining so that the brake lining slides lateral to the longitudinal axis of the spindle. This largely prevents lateral forces, which interfere with the lack of friction of the spindle and can occur when the brake lining is against the friction element. The electromechanical brake is used in passenger motor vehicles.

    摘要: There is the problem of adjusting a clearance in electromechanically or electromotively operated brakes because automatic resetting means, which are provided for hydraulic brakes, cannot be used in brakes of the above type. Initially, it is necessary to determine a neutral position of the motor which is defined by the friction elements just abutting the brake disc in this position. This situation is determined by a detection device which exhibits the following operation in one preferred embodiment. The motor is driven from an unknown position by a constant motor torque so that the friction linings are moved towards the brake disc. The motor will speed up because the resistances remain constant in the starting stroke. An abrupt deceleration of the motor will be caused when the friction linings are applied to the brake disc. The zero passage of the angular acceleration can be sensed and interpreted as an application of the friction linings on the brake disc. Subsequently, a so-called contact signal is generated, with the result that the motor is restored in a position-controlled manner by a defined angle which corresponds to the clearance being adjusted.

    摘要: A vehicle brake having a vacuum suspended operating section. The assembly is arranged so that initial braking is accomplished by the operator admitting atmospheric pressure to the pressure side of a diaphragm that has a vacuum on its opposing side. The assembly is further arranged so that the wheel cylinder can be used to convert hydraulic pressure to air pressure. When the vehicle operator first applies a force to the brake pedal, a valve is actuated which allows vacuum and atmospheric pressure to impart sufficient force to provide initial braking. When greater brake pressures are required as indicated by increased brake pedal force exerted by the vehicle operator, a valve leading to atmospheric pressure closes, allowing the hydraulic pressure in the wheel cylinder to convert the trapped atmospheric pressure to air pressure. As this pressure is inner connected to the large diaphragm area, sufficient force is exerted on the brake lining to provide the required brake torque, without any increase in the pressure supplied to the wheel cylinder above that supplied to the master cylinder by the vehicle operator.
