摘要: A method is provided for optimally engineering a toroidal transmission having a desired input/output ratio to implement the desired ratio of the transmission while meeting the torque and efficiency requirements of the design. Nanoparticle technology is used to manufacture the stator walls to replace the cutting and milling procedures now in use. A novel Mitchell bearing sleeve and its particular hydrodynamic lubrication and cooling method are proposed herein, as well as the introduction of a novel, ultra smooth, amorphous non-oxidizing contact sleeve material used to form the contact sleeve of the drive rollers. A novel self-lubricating system is further provided that includes an oil reservoir disposed within an output shaft of the transmission.

摘要: Epicyclic gear train is comprised of a first gear coaxial to second gear and a satellite gear in a mesh with first and second gears. Satellite gear is an enveloping worm and is placed on a rotating carrier for supporting said satellite where carrier is coaxial to first and second gears. Axis of enveloping worm and axis of first and second matting gears are parallel, intersection or crossing. Epicyclic gear train could also be comprised of the first gear coaxial to the second gear and two coaxial enveloping worms attached to each other to rotate together in mesh with first and second gears. Enveloping worms are placed on a rotating carrier for supporting said satellites where carrier is coaxial to first and second gears. Axis of enveloping worms and axis of first and second matting gears are parallel or intersected.

摘要: A particularly compact and efficient transmission includes one or more helix-like races having a common axis of rotation, a support member extending along the axis, one or more bearing units axially fixed to the support member and with their peripheries positioned in rolling engagement with the races, and means for rotating the bearing units about the axis whereby the bearing units roll along the races and the support member advances along the axis. Each bearing unit includes a hub, a circular array of roller means located radially outward from the hub, and resilient means for rotatively connecting each roller to the hub so that each roller is stiff in the circumferential directions around the array, but relatively elastic in planes which include said axis hub. When the transmission is under load, the roller means deflect laterally as needed to achieve uniform contact between all roller means and their respective race walls so that the load is distributed uniformly among all of the bearing units.

The safety rail includes lower linkage arm assemblies that are connected to a base and to a center rail assembly and configured to raise or lower the center rail assembly relative to the base when a rotational force is applied to the drive shaft. The safety rail also includes upper linkage arm assemblies that are connected to the center rail assembly and to a top rail. The upper linkage arm assemblies are connected to corresponding lower linkage assemblies and are configured to move the top rail relative to the center rail assembly. When the top rail is raised, one or more safety curtains are unfurled from a take-up roller inside the top rail to provide a safety curtain in the vertical plane of the safety rail.
