Abstract:
The modular transmission uses only a pair of small and light hydraulic machines of remarkably improved volumetric efficiency with pistons having body portions substantially as long as the axial length of the respective cylinders in which they reciprocate. The two hydraulic machines operate in a closed loop, one being used as a pump driven by the vehicle's engine, and the other used as a motor. Each machine has a fully articulatable swash plate. By computer control, the angles of the swash plates of the two machines are infinitely varied to provide an appropriate optimum ratio of engine/wheel speed for all conditions from start-up, city driving, hill climbing varied according to load and steepness, and over-drive for highway. This complete vehicle operation is attained while the vehicle's engine continues to operate at relatively constant speeds and relatively low RPM.
Abstract:
A method and system for configuring a hydromechanical transmission having a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor driven by the hydraulic pump and a pressure-driven actuator employs a particular torque-pressure curve configuration to maximize torque resolution with respect to actuator pressure changes while ensuring that the curve is substantially monotonic in each dimension and at any available motor speed within a predetermined motor speed limit and any available actuator pressure within predetermined actuator pressure limits. The resultant four-dimensional association between actuator pressure, motor speed, primary power source speed and motor torque allows selection of an actuator pressure to provide a desired torque.

A traveling gear for an agricultural working machine, with control of he traveling speed by adjusting the engine sped to the planned driving for road travel is disclosed. The traveling gear for an agricultural working machine controls the speed for road travel by controlling the central drving gear.
Abstract:
A swash plate angle for a hydrostatic power unit of a continuously variable hydromechanical transmission is determined using a feedforward compensation term, to reduce reliance on closed loop control. The feedforward term is based on knowledge of the hydrostatic power unit determined as a function of knowledge of certain parameters, including, but not limited to, hydrostatic power unit pressure, swash plate angle, desired hydrostatic power unit ratio, and pump speed.
Abstract:
A method for testing a transmission of a vehicle, the transmission including a hydrostatic unit installed on the vehicle. The method includes calculating an actual value of a parameter which is indicative of the volumetric efficiency of the hydrostatic unit, in a working condition. The method also includes determining an expected value of the parameter in the working condition. The actual value is comparable with the expected value in order to evaluate how the hydrostatic unit is working.

Abstract:
A method of regulating a travelling speed of an agricultural machine includes providing a diesel engine to drive a variable displacement pump, the variable displacement pump connected by a hydraulic line to at least one hydraulic motor connected to a running gear so as to drive the agricultural machine at the travelling speed. The method further includes measuring a speed of the diesel engine, and providing a delivery volume from the variable displacement pump via the hydraulic line to the at least one hydraulic motor in proportion to the measured speed of the diesel engine, where a speed of the at least one hydraulic motor controls the travelling speed of the agricultural machine.
