    摘要: The present invention provides a headlamp for a vehicle wherein a reflector is different in focal position of a paraboloidal surface between an upper surface and a lower surface thereof, a focal point on the lower surface side is formed to be positioned forwardly more than a length of a sub-filament from a focal point on the upper surface side, and the sub-filament is positioned between both the focal points to thereby efficiently utilize luminescense and obtain a light distribution pattern of high luminous intensity.

The unit comprises a multi-surface concave reflector having a beam axis along which a light beam projects forward to produce a beam pattern, the reflector including upper and lower concave light reflecting parts which are respectively located at upper and lower positions with respect to a given portion of the reflector, and left and right concave light reflecting parts which are respectively located at left and right positions with respect to the given portion and have respective focuses on their respective optical axes, the optical axes being inclined with respect to the beam axis, each of the left and right concave light reflecting parts having respective curves of second degree when cut by vertical and horizontal planes; and first and second filaments of an electric bulb which are located on the beam axis. The optical axes of the left and right concave light reflecting parts are inclined toward the left and right concave light reflecting parts with respect to the beam axis, respectively, and the focuses of the left and right concave light reflecting parts are located at generally right and left positions with respect to the first filament, respectively.

The headlamp comprises a concave light reflector which includes upper and lower reflector parts, each part constituting a part of an ellipsoidal light reflecting surface and having first and second focuses, the upper and lower reflector parts having a common optical axis and having the second focuses located on a common position, the first focus of the upper reflector part being in front of that of the lower reflector part; a first light source positioned at the first focus of the upper reflector part; a second light source positioned at the first focus of the lower reflector part; a shade plate positioned in front of the first and second light sources; and a converging lens arranged in front of the shade plate. The shade plate is arranged flat with respect to the optical axis and arranged in parallel with the optical axis having a front edge thereof positioned just behind the second focus, and the lens has its focus located at the front edge of the shade plate.

Selected critical zones of the reflector have an elliptical form with one focus in the proximity of the light source and the other focus in the proximity of the center of the glass, and the central zone of the glass is substantially smooth, in such a way that the light rays reflected by the critical zones of the reflector pass through the glass without significant deflection in spite of its inclination.
