摘要： An insulated icemaking compartment is provided in the fresh food compartment of a bottom mount refrigerator. The icemaking compartment may be integrally formed with the liner of the fresh food compartment, or alternatively, may be modular for installation anywhere in the fresh food compartment. A removable bin assembly with a front cover normally seals the icemaking compartment to maintain the temperature in the compartment. A cold air duct formed in the rear wall of the refrigerator supplies cold air from the freezer compartment to the icemaking compartment. A return air duct directs a portion of the air from the icemaking compartment back to the freezer compartment. An air vent with a damper in the icemaking compartment directs another portion of air into the fresh focm 8od compartment. A control system provides for controlling refrigerator functions in a manner that promotes energy efficiency, including movement of the damper between open and closed positions. An improved latch and seal are provided for the ice bin assembly to allow removal of the bin assembly and to ensure a positive seal between the bin assembly and the front cover of the ice compartment.

摘要： An ice cube dispenser for compressed ice flakes includes an ice cube source and an ice storage bin disposed adjacent the ice cube source. The ice storage bin has an arcuate bottom surface and at least two sides thereof. The arcuate contours are provided where the at least two sides join the arcuate bottom surface. An agitator is disposed within the ice storage bin wherein the agitator comprises a first ice agitator arm rotating on a shaft. The first ice agitator arm defines a radius when the shaft is rotated. The radius corresponds to a radius of the arcuate bottom surface and one of the arcuate contours of the ice storage bin. The first agitator arm has a shape which corresponds to a shape of the one of the arcuate contours between one of the at least two sides and the arcuate bottom surface.

摘要： A rotatable auger is disposed within an ice chest to direct ice through an opening into a tubular conduit through which runs a flexible looped cable. Plastic paddles are fixed to the cable at spaced intervals and engage with ice received within the conduit and advance the ice through the conduit to an above-the-counter transparent display segment of the conduit having an outer transparent plastic tube surrounding an inner transparent plastic tube through which the conveyed ice is visible. The ice is conveyed to a discharge opening where a user activated gate valve controls ice discharge. An ice return tube directs undispensed ice back to the ice chest.

A unit for generating a veil of cold air and for lowering the temperature below the freezing point is positioned above the removal opening.

摘要： An ice dispenser comprises an ice stroage chamber within which an agitator is rotatably mounted. In response to reception of an ice dispensation signal, a motor for driving the agitator is controlled in a predetermined timing sequence independent of a period during which ice pellets are dispensed from the ice storage chamber by means of an auger and a time interval intervening between the preceeding and succeeding ice dispensing operations. To this end, a first timer for driving first the agitator and a second timer for stopping the agitator for a predetermined period are provided in association with the agitator driving motor.

摘要： A flaked ice dispenser comprises a hopper for reception of a mass of small particles of ice, the hopper having a circular upper portion and a polygonal shaped lower portion the corners of which extend outwardly of the upper portion, an impeller which is rotatable in the hopper and has a conical body and equally spaced arms extending radially therefrom, and an ice diverting assembly at an outlet from the hopper. The round upper hopper portion allows ice in that portion to rotate without substantial resistance, the corners of the lower portion allow for displacement of ice therein from the main mass thereof, and the diverting assembly facilitates movement of ice through the outlet. The dispenser enables flaked ice to remain in free flowing form without agglomeration and to be readily dispensed.

摘要： A method and mechanism is disclosed for the conversion of ice chests of the type having a door to enable removal of unlimited quantities of ice as are in common use in hotels, motels, etc. The method involves a modification to the access door by the installation of an ice conveyor mechanism extending downwardly into a collector hopper placed within the ice chest bin. The ice lift conveyor mechanism is controlled by a token or coin-operated device to limit the quantity of ice dispensed from the ice chest. The ice lift conveyor mechanism is disclosed as a manually operated auger extending into the collector hopper with rotations of the auger controlled by a solenoid interlock gear mechanism, in turn controlled by a coin or token-operated control device. The portions of the ice lift conveyor mechanism and related parts passing through the access door are enclosed by a sheet metal enclosure housing to prevent tampering and which sheet metal is further provided with a chute door designed to prevent tampering with the ice lift mechanism, only the coin slot and the manually-operated handle being exposed externally of the enclosure housing.
