摘要: A reliable, leak-tolerant liquid cooling system with a backup air-cooling system for computers is provided. The system may use a vacuum pump and a liquid pump and/or an air compressor in combination to provide negative fluid pressure so that liquid does not leak out of the system near electrical components. Alternatively, the system can use a single vacuum pump and a valve assembly to circulate coolant. The system distributes flow and pressure with a series of pressure regulating valves so that an array of computers can be serviced by a single cooling system. A connector system is provided to automatically evacuate the liquid from the heat exchangers before they are disconnected. Leah detection and mitigation structures are also disclosed. Various turbulators are also provided, as well as a system and method for optimizing the heat transfer characteristics of a heat exchanger to minimize total energy requirements.

The system provides both air and liquid cooling so that if the liquid cooling system does not provide adequate cooling, the air cooling system will be automatically activated. The heat may be removed from the building efficiently with a cooling tower.

摘要: The invention relates to a gas cooling device for coke-oven gas containing condensing constituents. Said device comprises a gas conduit (6), through which the coke-oven gas flows, heat exchanger elements in said gas conduit that are traversed by a coolant and a spray device (2) located above the heat exchanger elements, the surface of the heat exchanger elements that faces the gas being wet by a liquid that is fed through the spray device (2). According to the invention, the heat exchanger elements (5) are configured as cooling plates (5), through which the coolant can flow and are combined with channel-forming spacers (7) to form at least one heat exchanger stack. The heat exchanger stacks are located in the gas conduit (6) with a vertical alignment of their cooling plates (5), the gas channels formed by the spacers (7) being sprayed from above by the liquid that emanates from the spray device (2) and being traversed by the coke-oven gas.

摘要: A thin film distiller is provided which applies distilland to an evaporative side by the use of wicks which work by capillary action. The evaporated vapor is transferred to the condensate side after being compressed to a higher pressure where it is condensed and removed by similar wicks. The condensing and evaporating surfaces are formed on opposing sides of a bellows-like sheet of heat conducting material. The sheet would preferably be formed into a cylindrical shape with the evaporative stage on the outside and the condensing stage on the inside of the cylinder. Either the wicks or the heat conducting material are moved with respect to the other such that the wicks place a thin film of distilland on the evaporative surface. Removal of condensate is performed in a similar manner by the wicks in the condensate stage.

摘要: An absorber and evaporator combination for use with an absorption heat pump (including chillers and air conditioners) as well as with other apparatus in which a vapor is absorbed by a liquid absorbent or a liquid or gas is cooled by evaporative cooling is disclosed. The absorber and evaporator are designed as vertical plates that can receive films of either absorbent (on the absorber) or refrigerant (on the evaporator) flowing down them. A liquid refrigerant is distributed across the top edge of each vertical surface of the evaporator. Likewise, for the absorber, a liquid absorbent is distributed across the top edge of each vertical surface. The distributors for the refrigerant and the absorbent are constructed and arranged so that they distribute their respective liquids without creating droplets. In one embodiment, two vertical evaporator surfaces and two vertical absorber surfaces are assembled into one absorber/evaporator panel. The two evaporator surfaces are positioned facing each other but with a small space between them. The two absorber surfaces are similarly positioned facing each other. A single hollow panel is formed by (1) sealing the two opposed evaporator surfaces along their top and bottom edges and along one side edge, (2) sealing the two opposed absorber surfaces along their top and bottom edges and along one side edge, and (3) joining the two absorber surfaces with the two evaporator surfaces along their unsealed side edges in a way that forms a single hollow panel that is enclosed on all sides.

摘要: The structure, method of fabrication and uses of enclosed double plate heat transfer panels with prefabricated main panel bodies are introduced. In most applications, a pane is used to conduct a gas-liquid interaction such as vaporization, condesation, gas absorption, gas description, endothermic and exothermic chemical reactions inside while having a heat interaction with a fluid outside that undergoes a complementary operation. A panel (41) incorporates one or more of the following key features:(a) It comprises a prefabricated main body (42) and two reinforced mainfold conduits (47) and (49) welded to the main panel body by welds (45).(b) It has nozzles (48) for applying a liquid film inside the panel.(c) The inside surfaces (51) are textured to improve wettability and drainage.

摘要: An apparatus for the cooling of dust or finely granular bulk material, having a vertical cylindrical cooling jacket, the externally cooled cylindrical surface of which is fed with the material to be cooled from the inside by means of an annular conveyor worm which conducts the material upward and presses it by centrifugal force against the heat exchange surface. In order to be able to materials which are subject to explosion safely with the apparatus, the conveyor worm is arranged on the cylindrical surface of a cylindrical hollow body which is closed at its ends, fills the greatest part of the inside of the cooling jacket, and is driven by a motor.

摘要: In an apparatus for the desalination of sea water using a multi-effect evrator process, a sea water preheater and a falling film evaporator are both formed of similar stamped heat exchanger plates. The heat exchanger plates have a uniform arrangement of projections-depressions disposed in a grid-like manner with rows of the projections-depressions extending perpendicularly to one another. The plates are assembled in facing contact so that one pair of plates form tubular ducts and adjacent plates on each side of the pair combine with the plates forming the tubular ducts and provide slot-like ducts separated from and extending perpendicularly to the tubular ducts. Adjacent plates are welded together. The plates in the preheater form a continuous unit divided into stages. The plates in the falling film evaporator are arranged in individual units with each unit forming a separate stage.

摘要: The upper end portion of an upright tubular wall whose inner side is contacted by material requiring to be cooled, is surrounded by an annular receptacle for cooling water. An annular baffle extends from the receptacle towards but not into contact with the exterior of the wall; its free edge defines with the wall an annular gap. This gap is bridged by tufts of fibers which are arranged along the gap in one or more rows, so that water running from the receptacle over the baffle travels along the fibers whose free ends are in contact with the wall, and is applied to the wall of a film of uniform thickness.
