In various embodiments, a barrel comprises an inner surface defining a bore configured to guide a projectile as the projectile is propelled through the bore by pressurized gas; and a barrel gas port having a gas port depth extending between a port entrance defined by the inner surface of the barrel and a port exit, wherein the barrel gas port is configured to fluidically communicate with the bore and an action of the firearm; wherein the port entrance defines a length dimension defined parallel to a longitudinal axis of the barrel and a width dimension defined perpendicular to the length dimension; and wherein the length dimension of the port entrance is greater than the width dimension of the port entrance. Various embodiments are directed to a firearm comprising the exemplary barrel.

    摘要: An assembly for directing propellant gas to an action of a firearm includes a barrel and a gas block. The barrel has a plurality of gas ports that communicate with the bore of the barrel. The barrel and the gas block define a passage that receives pressurized propellant gas from the bore by way of the barrel gas ports, and directs the propellant gas to a gas port of the gas block. The plurality of barrel gas ports and the passage act as a manifold in which the propellant gas is taken from multiple locations within the barrel, combined into a single flow, and directed into the gas block via the gas block gas port. The pressurized gas is then routed to an action of the firearm by way of a gas tube and a gas key.

    摘要: A short-length, belt fed machine gun for convenient use includes: (A) a receiver having a length in the range of about 17.75 inches to about 20.3 inches, (B) a barrel assembly, and (C) a gas cycling assembly. A gas port of the barrel assembly has a width of between about 0.063 inches and 0.200 inches. The distance between a center of the gas port and the breach of the barrel is between about 7.605 inches and about 9.395 inches. The gas cycling assembly features a unique polymer kinetic energy dampener assembly located longitudinally rearward of the operating rod, which is useful in achieving a desired cycle rate of the gun (e.g., about 600 rounds per minute (RPM)) and in minimizing muzzle climb. A unique mounting bushing selectively, removably mounts to the gas cylinder in order to achieve a shortened gun with many of the advantages of conventional longer weapons.

    摘要: An improved design of a two-piece gas block for a semi-automatic rifle barrel. The improvement consisting of integrated attachment features that allow for a smaller overall size and a more reliable fit around a rifle barrel. The integrated attachment features contain minimal hardware for assembly; therefore, easier to assemble and disassemble. These attachment features consist of built-in interlocking protrusions and recesses in each half of the two-piece gas block. When assembled, the interlocking protrusions and recesses radially secure both halves together around a rifle barrel. Once both halves are assembled, fitted pins are then inserted through the interlocking protrusions and recesses to secure both halves axially to each other.
