摘要: A ring detonator device for a warhead transfers a point initiation to the ng detonator. The detonator device is comprised of an inner and outer conically shaped member with the outer conically shaped member having the shape of a modified frustum of a circular cone due to a cylindrical member extending from the smaller base of the outer conically shaped member. The space between the inner and outer conically shaped member contains an explosive composition which is discharged as a shock wave and detonation products after ignition in a ring configuration by a common cylindrical portion extending from each of the larger bases of each conically shaped member to align the space therebetween perpendicular to the bases of the conically shaped members. The ring detonator results in a flatter wave front per unit length of warhead thereby achieving improved efficiency and the use of a shorter warhead.

摘要: A high energy firing mechanism for a well perforating gun comprises a downwardly directed shaped charge which is discharged by an impact detonatable primer. The explosive jet developed by the downwardly directed shaped charge impinges upon a booster charge which in turn is connected to a primer cord leading to the shaped charges of a perforating gun. Sufficient detonating energy is produced to assure high energy detonation of the booster charge and primer cord, even though such elements may be formed from a thermal resistant explosive.

摘要: Claim 1. shaped charge unit comprising a cylindrical block of solid explosive having a central axis and a cavity in its forward end symmetrical of said axis, a first annular booster coaxial of said axis and positioned about the perimeter of said block at the rearward end thereof, a second booster positioned on said axis over the rearward face of said block and in discrete relation with said first booster, means associated with said block and forming a circular chamber coaxial of said axis and rearwardly of the rear face of said block, there being first and second frustoconical channels from the perimeter of said chamber leading to said first and second boosters, respectively, the slant length of said first channel being less than the corresponding length of said second channel, explosive composition filling said chamber and channels, and a single initiator on said axis in central detonating relation with the explosive composition in said chamber.

摘要: According to some embodiments, a holding device for a detonation initiation system is disclosed. The holding device includes an initiator holder having a longitudinal internal cavity. The longitudinal internal cavity is configured to retain an initiator and an electrical cable in electrical contact with the initiator. The holding device further includes a plurality of retention fingers configured for retaining a shaped charge adjacent the initiator. The plurality of retention fingers define a shaped charge receiving portion that may be configured to receive shaped charges of different shapes. The holder may be formed from a thermoplastic material.
