Abstract: A gun tube for a downhole perforating gun assembly includes a body having a cavity and one or more weights in the cavity. Gravity acts on the weights, which causes the tube body to rotate around its longitudinal axis so the weights are adjacent the lower part of the wellbore in which the gun assembly is positioned when oriented horizontally. This position shape charges in the gun tube in a desired position prior to the shape charges being fired. The gun tube may also include one or more end connectors with electrical contacts having a first, extended position, and a second, contracted position, and/or end connectors that can be assembled by hand without the use of tools.

Abstract: A method of stimulating a subterranean formation. The method begins with positioning a stimulation tool into a wellbore formed through the formation. The stimulation tool includes (i) at least one tubular segment; (ii) an outer sleeve positioned on the tubular segment and forming an annular space between the tubular segment and the outer sleeve; (iii) a propellant positioned within the annular space; (iv) at least one ignitor positioned to ignite the propellant; (v) at least one rupture disc positioned within a wall of the tubular segment; and (vi) the absence of a detonator for detonating the propellant. Thereafter, the propellant is ignited to begin deflagration of the propellant.

Abstract: What is presented is a metal magnalium thermite pellet that is used to create heated gas. The metal magnalium thermite pellet is made to be inserted into the cutting apparatus that is used for cutting a conduit for oil, gas, mining, and underwater pressure sealed tool applications. To cut the conduit, the cutting apparatus radially projects a flow of heated gas from the internal surface of the conduit through to its external surface. The metal magnalium thermite pellet is also made to be inserted into the high power igniter that releasably secures to the cutting apparatus. Generally, the metal magnalium thermite pellet comprises a metal magnalium thermite composition that consists of between 1 to 44 percent magnalium alloy, 1 to 44 percent aluminum, 40 to 60 percent iron oxide, and 10 to 20 percent polytetrafluoroethylene.

Abstract: A method of controlling operation of a blasting system which includes a plurality of detonators (12) which are loaded into respective boreholes (18) and a control device (20) for initiating the detonators (12). The method including the steps of measuring the position of each detonator (12), measuring the position of the control device (20), from these measurements, in respect of each detonator (12), calculating the distance between the control device (20) and the detonator (12), comparing the calculated distance to a minimum distance requirement and of allowing the control device (20) to initiate the detonators (12) only if the respective calculated distance between each detonator (12) and the control device (20) exceeds a minimum distance requirement.

Abstract: A liquid electrically initiated and controlled composition comprising an oxidizer, soluble fuel additive(s), and other optional additives to enhance the chemical or ballistic properties, or a combination thereof is disclosed. The liquid composition further comprises stabilizers to enhance thermal stability, sequestrants to minimize deleterious effects of transition metal contaminants, and combustion enhancers maximizing efficiency. Buffers and heavy metal sequestering or complexing agents may be used in combination to achieve the highest degree of thermal stability. Additional ionic co-oxidizers may be added to the liquid composition to stabilize the liquid oxidizer and further depress freezing point. The liquid phase of matter allows flow via pipes or tubes from tanks, reservoirs, or other containers, through metering valves, followed by ignition or combustion modulation when stimulated by electrodes, statically or dynamically.
