    Abstract: A metrology apparatus includes an indexed articulated joint including: first and second relatively reorientable bodies, respectively having mutually engageable engagement elements, which can be locked together in different angular orientations about a first axis to provide a plurality of angularly indexed positions of the bodies; at least one verification sensor configured to provide a measure of the relative spatial configuration of bodies when in their locked state; and wherein the apparatus is configured such that when the bodies lock together at an indexed position, the sensor measures the relative spatial configuration of the bodies, and wherein information obtained from the measure is compared to calibration information obtained from at least one other measure of the relative spatial configuration of the bodies when the bodies were locked at said indexed position at an earlier point in time, in order to establish information about the state of engagement of the bodies.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for detecting a distance between a carrier and a plate, the apparatus comprising: a base provided on the carrier; a rotation mechanism rotatably provided on the base and configured to rotate when the carrier is in contact with the plate during movement of the carrier relative to the plate; a rotation angle measuring mechanism configured to measure a rotation angle of the rotation mechanism so as to obtain the distance according to the rotation angle. The distance between the carrier and the plate can be calculated based on the rotation angle of the rotation mechanism, so that accurate measurement of the distance between the carrier and the plate can be realized. Further, the operation performance of the gap detection apparatus would not be affected or damaged by the vacuum environment.

    Abstract: A high spot material gauging device applies high spot detection material in multiple depths to provide a basis for correctly determining a depth of material to be removed to produce a planar surface. The bottom surface of each channel is a unique respective depth measured transversely from the face of the block such that each channel is configured for applying a unique thickness of high spot material onto a planar control surface.
