Abstract: A thin film sensor includes an insulating layer provided on a surface of a measurement target, and a sensor layer that is laminated on the insulating layer, and includes a plurality of regions partitioned by a groove that is provided by irradiation of a laser and penetrates in a thickness direction. Among the plurality of regions, at least one region corresponds to a sensor region that senses a pressure applied to the measurement target or a temperature of the measurement target, and other regions each correspond to a non-sensor region that does not sense a pressure applied to the measurement target or a temperature of the measurement target.

Abstract: The present invention is a system and method using a hand-mounted force sensor to verify installation of a CPA-enabled electrical connector. The system has at least one CPA-enabled electrical connector with a locking button; at least one hand-mounted force sensor; an interface board; a transmission channel; a system processor; a non-transitory computer readable memory element; a display; and an input. The hand-mounted force sensors have an electrical output that is proportional to the force. The method is accomplished with the steps of mounting at least one force sensor so that it will record the force exerted when depressing a locking button of a CPA-enabled electrical connector; depressing the locking button; measuring the force; recording the force; comparing the force to a pre-determined threshold; passing the CPA-enabled electrical connector if the force was less than the pre-determined threshold and otherwise failing it.

Abstract: Embodiments generally relate to device and methods for detecting force. A force sensor may include a sense die, a substrate, one or more sense elements supported by the sense die, one or more electrical contacts located on the sense die and electrically coupled to electrical traces on the substrate, and an actuation element configured to transmit a force to the sense die. The width of the actuation element may be less than the distance between the one or more electrical contacts. In some embodiments, the actuation element may include a thin wedge/plate configured to interact with the sense die at a contact point. The thin wedge/plate may allow use of a smaller sense die and/or may allow closer placement of the one or more sense elements to the contact point and/or may prevent accidental contact with the one or more electrical contacts which may lead to a short circuit.

Abstract: A surface mounted monitoring system is disclosed that is useful for detecting the presence of both ordinary and excessive loads on a surface, and for providing real-time or near real-time trending data. The system includes an array of force transducers disposed on the exterior surface of a structural member such as a roof. In an exemplary embodiment, transducers may be placed on an interior surface, such as embedded within insulation. The force transducers detect the magnitude of a load force acting on the surface. A data analysis module (DAM) may record force readings in a circular memory buffer, so that recent data can be recovered in the event of a catastrophic collapse. The DAM may also communicate with a monitoring device that can display real-time loading data to a user and perform other analysis.
