摘要: An arc-flash sensor may provide flexibilities for supporting both surface mounting and peek-through mounting on a panel (e.g., a wall panel or an electrical panel). The arc-flash sensor includes a translucent optical lens, a fiber-optic cable, and a skirt around the back side of the optical lens. The translucent optical lens diffuses the light produced in an arc flash to enhance the detectability of light signals picked by the fiber-optic cable. The fiber-optic cable enters parallel to the panel and perpendicular to principal axis of the optical lens. The parallel fiber-optic cable configuration reduces sensor installation space occupied and potential damage to the sensor. The skirt is used to prevent false tripping caused by unexpected events on the fiber-optic cable side such as camera flashes, lightning, sunlight, or the like.

摘要: An interferometric radioimager provides real-time, high-fidelity radioimaging of high voltage breakdown (HVB) both internal and external to electrical components at sub-nanosecond and sub-millimeter resolution and has an ability to resolve multiple/spatially-extensive HVB simultaneously. Therefore, radioimaging can be used to screen for early life weakness/failure and enable non-destructive screening of defective electrical components. In particular, radioimaging can detect precursors to catastrophic HVB, allowing for early detection of weakness in critical electrical components. Radioimaging can also be used to track HVB and pinpoint defects in electrical components real time, including transformers, capacitors, cables, switches, and microelectronics.

摘要: A system for evaluating a high voltage asset (HV asset) comprises a PD detector disposed in the HV asset. The PD detector comprises an electrical coupler configured to couple electrical disturbances indicative of a partial discharge from a high voltage conductor of the HV asset to an electrical-to-optical converter. The electrical-to-optical converter comprises a light emitter, and is configured to convert the electrical disturbances to a light signal. An optical power receiver is disposed in the high voltage asset and coupled to the PD detector. The optical power receiver is configured to receive optical power from an external optical power source via a non-conducting optical fiber arrangement. The electrical-to-optical converter is configured to communicate the light signal indicative of the partial discharge to an electronic device external of high voltage asset via the non-conducting optical fiber arrangement.
