摘要: The invention provides a computer-implemented method for determining a time delay for time delay compensation of a microphone signal from a microphone array in a beamformer arrangement. For a given time, an instantaneous estimate of a position of a wanted sound source and/or of a direction of arrival of a signal originating from the wanted sound source is determined. The computer system then determines whether the instantaneous estimate deviates from a preset estimate of a position of the wanted sound source and/or of a direction of arrival of a signal originating from the wanted sound source according to a predetermined criterion. The predetermined criterion comprises a check whether the instantaneous estimate deviates from the preset estimate by at least a predetermined deviation threshold. If the predetermined criterion is fulfilled, the instantaneous estimate for the given time is set by the computer system as the preset estimate, and the computer system determines the time delay for time delay compensation of the microphone signal based on the instantaneous estimate.

摘要: An ultrasonic tracking system comprising a transmitting unit and a drive unit. The transmitting unit is carried by the subject to be tracked and produces brief, periodic ultrasonic bursts. The drive unit has an ultrasonic receiver and a motorized assembly capable of tilting and panning an attached camera in response to control signals from the receiver. This receiver employs three ultrasonic microphones located at three of the four corners of an imaginary square centered on and perpendicular to the axis of the camera lens. The receiver measures the relative arrival times of signals received by the microphones, determines the direction and degree to which the camera is not pointed directly at the subject, and supplies control signals to the motorized assembly, to drive motors to re-orient the camera (and receiver) to point toward the subject.

摘要: A hearing device has a transfer function adjustable by a set of parameters. The hearing device can have two microphones, a processing unit, and a speaker unit. A direction identification unit is operationally connected to the processing unit. Communication between a user of the hearing device and at least one reference person is ensured for changing positions of the user and/or the reference person. The transfer function is adjusted as a function of at least one current reference person direction by changing the set of parameters. The reference person direction encloses an angle with a reference plane of the user.

摘要: The position of an object is tracked underwater. Prior to tracking, the object is tagged with an acoustic transmitter. It is important that the transmitter emits sound waves having a frequency of at least 200 kilohertz (kHz) because it has been found that these transmitter frequencies provide better tracking data in noisy environments than conventional transmitters operating at 50-60 kHz. The acoustic transmitter is located by a split-beam transmitter. The position of the object can be accurately tracked by using two split-beam transducers, synchronization of transducer and transmitter, or echo ranging.

摘要: An aiming point system and technique for defining the aiming point of a d collection receiver used by an operator. A data receiver is directed to the aiming point for collecting and amplifying sub-audio signals emitted from rotary aircraft. The sub-audio signals are converted to audible signals by a voltage to frequency converter. The aiming point is readjusted manually or automatically in response to the sub-audible strength of the audible signal to obtain at least a substantial proportion of the target signature of the rotary type aircraft. The data collection receiver may include binoculars with a silicon photo detector and pre-amp within one of the binocular eyepieces.

摘要: A target engagement system uses target motion analysis to determine a target engagement decision for ground targets, such as vehicles. The input to the engagement system is the target azimuth as a function of time. A detect algorithm issues and records a detect azimuth when confirmation is made that a valid target is being tracked and legitimate azimuth information is being provided. The engagement algorithm then begins and records the time intervals it takes for the target to cross two sectors, each covering 20.degree. and separate by 10.degree.. Thus, first time interval is measured from detect azimuth to 20.degree. after detect azimuth, and the second time interval is measured from 30.degree. after detect azimuth to 50.degree. after detect azimuth. When the first and second time intervals have been recorded, the ratio of the first time interval to the second time interval is calculated. If this ratio is greater than 2.0, then the target is estimated to be within range and is subsequently attacked. Otherwise, the target is greater than the range and no action is taken.

摘要: Apparatus for determining the position in azimuth of a surface vessel, with respect to an underwater sonar signal source, irrespective of the motion of the surface vessel, comprising a hydrophone, capable of determining the azimuth of an underwater sonar signal source with respect to the roll and pitch axes of the surface vessel, and a universal joint, connecting the hydrophone to the surface vessel, its two axes of rotation being parallel to the roll and pitch axes of the surface vessel, thereby effectively permitting the hydrophone to rotate about the roll and pitch axes of the surface vessel. A vertical reference, attached to the hydrophone so as to pitch and roll with it, comprises a roll sensor and a pitch sensor for determining the roll and pitch, respectively, of the hydrophone. A roll summer and a pitch summer, whose two inputs are the outputs from the hydrophone and the roll sensor and pitch sensor, respectively, serve to determine the true azimuth of the sonar signal source, with respect to the roll and pitch axes of the surface ship, in spite of any roll or pitch of the hydrophone, or of the surface vessel.

摘要: A direction detection apparatus is disclosed. The direction detection apparatus includes a distribution obtainment section, an emphasis section, and a direction selection section. The distribution obtainment section obtains a distribution of intensities of sounds in a predetermined directional range. The emphasis section emphasizes sounds in the distribution of the intensities of the sounds obtained by the distribution obtainment section, wherein the emphasis section emphasizes the sounds in a second directional range which is a narrower directional range than the predetermined directional range and a center of the second directional range corresponds to a direction represented by selection information. The direction selection section decides a direction to be selected next based on the distribution of the intensities of the sounds which are output from the emphasis section and outputs the direction decided to be selected next as the selection information.
