    摘要: The contrast of an electrographic image or a region of interest of an electrographic image having low contrast is enhanced by developing the electrographic image with toner using a development electrode which is biased to a potential which has a value near the average potential of the image but outside of the range of values of potential corresponding to image features selected for enhancement. The voltage potential of the electrographic image is measured to determine the average potential in the region of interest. The development electrode bias is set at a potential near the average potential but outside of the range of potentials corresponding to the image features selected for enhancement in the region of interest of the image. When developed with toner, the toner image has enhanced contrast. If the image is a xeroradiographic image, diagnostic capability of low contrast regions can be enhanced.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for reducing X-ray dosage required for xeroradiographic examinations without reducing the relative information capacity of the images produced during the examination. In particular, a charged xerographic plate is positioned adjacent the object to be examined and penetrating Xray radiation is projected through the object onto the plate surface, forming a latent electrostatic image on the surface of the plate. The penetrating radiation utilized is of a substantially lower dosage than normally utilized. The image is then partially developed with developing powder and the partially developed image is then exposed to substantially uniform radiation. The exposed image is finally developed by applying additional developing powder thereto resulting in an enhanced image or signal.

    摘要: A process modification for the development of x-ray electrophotographic images with selenium photoreceptors wherein the occurrence of a catastrophic spot producing artifact called fatigue is eliminated. The process change consists of the addition of a photoreceptor pre-charging step immediately after thermal relaxation and before insertion of the photoreceptor in the elevator where it may be subsequently discharged by a suitable light source within thirty seconds of the pre-charging step. The effectiveness of the pre-charging step is achieved through field assisted detrapping of interference defect site injected holes which would otherwise detrap in the image charging step, thereby producing the fatigue artifact.

    摘要: A method of removing residual charge from a photoconductive material includes applying a first voltage to the photoconductive material to form an electrostatic field during a collection operation in which x-rays are irradiated onto the photoconductive material; and applying a second voltage to the photoconductor to reduce an amount of residual charge therein during a removal operation, the second voltage being different from the first voltage.
