摘要: Valves may include an opening sized and shaped to permit a subject fluid to flow through the opening when the opening is unobstructed. A heat exchange element may be located proximate to the opening, the heat exchange element positioned and configured to induce a localized phase change in the subject fluid to form and unform a solid plug from the subject fluid around at least a portion of the heat exchange element. A heat transfer rate of the heat exchange element may be variable to control a rate of flow of the subject fluid through the valve by controlling a size of the solid plug from the subject fluid.

摘要: A fluid flow control device serving as an inflow port from a fluid reservoir (R) to the interior of a production pipe (S) is in the form of a housing (3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f, 3g, 3h, 3i, 3j, 3k, 3l). The housing has a primary flow path (18) and a secondary flow path (19). The secondary flow path is in fluid communication with a chamber (B) in which is arranged an actuator (5) for a valve device (4), the valve device arranged to open and close the primary flow path. At least one flow restrictor (1,2) is arranged in the secondary flow path, the flow restrictor arranged to provide a pressure to chamber (B) sufficient to actuate the valve to an open position when the fluid flowing through the secondary flow path is oil, and a pressure sufficient to actuate the valve to a closed position when the fluid has a viscosity and/or density less than oil.

摘要: An isolation valve includes a flow restrictor disposed in a passage and having a piston with a first orifice and a depressurization valve with a second orifice. The valve also includes a solenoid valve assembly having a coil that is selectively energized by a signal from a controller and an armature that is moveable between first and second positions to open and close the first orifice and/or the second orifice. When the coil is energized, the armature moves to the second position to allow vapor to flow through the first orifice, the depressurization valve selectively opens to allow vapor to flow through the first orifice, the second orifice, or both. The two orifices work together to provide controlled vapor flow.

摘要: Disclosed is a valve for controlling a flow rate of an inlet fluid. The valve includes a housing portion that has at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet and at least two containers that are positioned at least partially within the housing portion. The at least two containers define respective interior portions for receiving a working fluid. The interior portions are in fluidal communication with each other, and at least one of the containers is arranged such that the working fluid in that container can exchange thermal energy with the or another inlet fluid. A change in a temperature difference between the working fluid in the respective interior portions of the containers and within a predetermined range of temperature difference causes a quantity of the working fluid to be transferred in or out of at least one of the containers.

摘要: A stopper rod having an elongate trunk with an upstream first end and a downstream second end, a continuous axial bore extending through the trunk from a stopper inlet in the upstream first end to a stopper outlet in the downstream second end, and a flow control device disposed within the bore to create a backpressure upstream thereof. The flow control device includes a body having an inlet, an outlet and a passageway therebetween, a wire positioned substantially axially in the passageway, and a retainer for maintaining the wire in the passageway. In one embodiment, the retainer is constituted by a portion of the wire itself, which is bent or crimped or configured as a loop; kink or spiral which prevents the wire from being dislodged from the passageway.

摘要: A combination includes a selectively driven fan and a bypass flow passage for bypassing the fan. The bypass flow passage communicates with a first check valve to allow air to flow from the bypass passage to a downstream location. A second check valve allows air driven by the fan to pass into a return passage and return to an inlet of the fan in the event that the discharge pressure from the fan overcomes a spring force associated with the second check valve. A heat exchanger pack and an environmental control system for use on an aircraft, and a method are all also disclosed.
