Abstract: A pesticidal protein class exhibiting toxic activity against Coleopteran and Lepidopteran pest species is disclosed, and includes, but is not limited to, TIC7040, TIC7042, TIC7381, TIC7382, TIC7383, TIC7386, TIC7388, and TIC7389. DNA constructs are provided which contain a recombinant nucleic acid sequence encoding the TIC7040, TIC7042, TIC7381, TIC7382, TIC7383, TIC7386, TIC7388, and TIC7389 pesticidal proteins. Transgenic plants, plant cells, seed, and plant parts resistant to Coleopteran and Lepidopteran infestation are provided which contain recombinant nucleic acid sequences encoding the TIC7040, TIC7042, TIC7381, TIC7382, TIC7383, TIC7386, TIC7388, and TIC7389 pesticidal proteins of the present invention. Methods for detecting the presence of the recombinant nucleic acid sequences or the proteins of the present invention in a biological sample, and methods of controlling Coleopteran and Lepidopteran species pests using the TIC7040, TIC7042, TIC7381, TIC7382, TIC7383, TIC7386, TIC7388, and TIC7389 pesticidal proteins are also provided.

Abstract: This disclosure provides, inter alia, an optimized strain of Nitrosomonas eutropha (N. eutropha) designated D23, D23-100, or AOB D23-100. N. eutropha bacteria disclosed in this application have desirable properties, e.g., optimized properties, such as the ability to suppress growth of pathogenic bacteria, and an enhanced ability to produce nitric oxide and nitric oxide precursors. The N. eutropha herein may be used, for instance, to treat diseases associated with low nitrite levels, skin diseases, and diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are pigment compositions for meat substitutes and meat substitutes including such pigment compositions. The pigment compositions include a thermolabile AlacDFX variant polypeptide, e.g. a thermolabile DFX polypeptide including a sequence at least 80% identical to SEQ ID NO:1 and including a mutation at a position selected from the group consisting of I76, H68, E106, K58, E108, K90, I15, I16, I89, Q88, F102, Y80, Y7, and combinations thereof relative to SEQ ID NO:1. The pigment compositions provide a pink and/or red color to a meat substitute composition that transitions to a brown color after cooking.
