A multi-directional operation switch that can be miniaturized is provided. The multi-directional operation switch includes an operation rod that is rotatable about an operation rod axis, and is also tiltable. The operation rod has an inner end portion inserted in a hole in a circuit substrate, and a slider, which operates in conjunction with an operation of the operation rod, is provided on the inner end portion. The slider has a movable contact. The circuit substrate has a plurality of fixed contacts that are brought into contact with, and are electrically connected to, the movable contact when the slider rotates or slides.

The present invention relates to a mouse having a composite switch device. The composite switch device includes a push button, a multi-stage sliding switch unit and a tactile switch unit. By moving a single push button to different positions, the use modes of the mouse will be switched.

A portable communication device (1) for a wireless communication system, comprises a display means (4) for displaying information and a scrolling means (2) for scrolling through a menu or other information displayed on the display means (2), said scrolling means (2) being arranged under the display means (4). In an editing mode of said communication device (1) an option shown on the display means (4) is activated upon actuation of the scrolling means (2). According to the present invention, three selectable options (A, B, C) are shown on the display means (4), said options (A, B, C) being allocated to three different portions (6, 7, 8) of the scrolling means (2). The shown options (A, B, C) are activated upon actuation of the middle portion (6), the left and right end portion (7, 8) of the scrolling means (2), respectively.

A switch assembly includes a housing having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis. The housing has a pair of spaced apart longitudinally extending walls each having a control curve. An actuating element is mounted to the housing. The actuating element is longitudinally movable along the longitudinal axis between two switching positions and is pivotable about the transverse axis between two other switching positions. A first switching piece is coupled to the actuating element to pivot as the actuating element pivots. A first pair of movable electrical switching contacts is associated with the first switching piece. The first switching piece moves one of the first pair of switching contacts as the actuating element pivots. A second switching piece is coupled to the actuating element to pivot as the actuating element longitudinally moves. A second pair of movable electrical contacts is associated with the second switching piece. The second switching piece moves one of the second pair of switching contacts as the actuating element longitudinally moves. A control device extends transversely across the housing. The control device has two spring loaded pressure pieces which each engage one of the control curves of the two walls to be biased to move the actuating element from a switching position to return to an initial position.

An electronic device control button of a vehicle includes: i) a jog-shuttle configured to control an electronic device including a navigation device for the vehicle; ii) a base part configured to rotatably support the jog-shuttle and slidably move in upward and downward directions from a reference position on a center fascia panel; iii) a return spring provided on the center fascia panel, configured to limit movement of the jog-shuttle, and to recover the jog-shuttle to the reference position; and iv) a terminal part provided at the jog-shuttle and configured to make contact with or be separated from a slot of a circuit board to apply and block different electrical signals to and from the electronic device.

Further, the operating device includes a plurality of sensors adapted to detect forces acting on the base body.
