摘要： A color display device (19) is disclosed having an improved focus performance. In state-of-the-art color display tubes, a static voltage is applied to the focusing electrode (23). This means that only one focus voltage is available for the entire range of beam currents. In general, due to the fact that the diameter of the electron beams (7,8,9) increases as the beam current increases, the focus voltage is a function of this beam current, which itself is determined by the cathode voltage. In this invention, a color display device (19) is disclosed in which the voltage on the focusing electrode (23) is changed as a function of the cathode voltages, thereby significantly improving the focus performance.

摘要： A color cathode-ray tube including an in-line electron gun and a color cathode-ray tube apparatus including the same are provided. At an end, on a screen side, of the electron gun, two pairs of members for generating a magnetic field are placed above and below side beams of three electron beams so as to sandwich them, respectively. Between each of the two pairs of members for generating a magnetic field, a localized barrel magnetic field is formed to vary cross-sectional shapes of the side beams positioned on both sides of a center beam so that the cross-sectional shape of one of the side beams is horizontally or vertically elongated to a higher degree than that to which the cross-sectional shape of the other of the side beams is. Magnetic fields for reverse correction of spot distortions of the side beams are generated and therefore the symmetry in the spot distortions of the side beams asymmetric with each other is improved, thus improving focus quality.

摘要： A color cathode ray tube system comprising three coplanar electron guns and one deflection unit. A dynamically controlled element driving the outer electron beams away from each other is arranged at the input side of the deflection unit. The underconvergence induced thereby is compensated in that the deflection unit generates deflection fields which cause an overconvergence of the outer beams. 摘要： A high definition page display system for graphics and text utilizing shaped beams in a CRT is disclosed. Information for the several lines which are written simultaneously is made available in parallel. The invention is described in terms of a character set and text generation, but the same principles apply to any other graphic or bit map and to storage in ROMs or loadable RAMs. Each beam of a multiple CRT tube is biased to generate a portion of a character or grahic as it scans across the tube. It takes 12 lines to scan a character with a N-beam tube, 12 over N character scans are therefore required. With the same scanning speed as with a single beam, this factor can be used to increase definition (i.e. number of lines.) Also the advantage of multiple beams can be used to reduce scanning speed, if this is useful to improve brightness or spot definition, or to increase the number of dots per line. Reduced scanning speed can also reduce costs, particularly if it brings the scan rate in line with standard components available commercially. Another way to use the advantages would be higher refresh rates.
