Abstract: A method for controlling a solid state circuit breaker includes detecting a direction of a current flowing through the solid state circuit breaker, obtaining a breaking current value of the solid state circuit breaker according to the detected direction of the current, obtaining a value of a maximum threshold current to flow through the solid state circuit breaker, obtaining a predicted current value within a next sampling period of a present sampling period of the solid state circuit breaker, comparing the predicted current value with the breaking current value, and upon the predicted current value being greater than the breaking current value, delaying the solid state circuit breaker, and upon the predicted current value being greater than the maximum threshold current value, controlling the solid state circuit breaker to disconnect a circuit in which the solid state circuit breaker resides.

Abstract: An electrostatic protection circuit includes a trigger circuit that is connected between a first power line and a second power line. The trigger circuit is configured to output a trigger signal in response to a voltage fluctuation between the first and second power lines. A shunt element has a main current path between the first power line and the second power line and is controllable to be on and off using the trigger signal. A control circuit is configured to supply a control signal to turn off the shunt element when a current value of the main current path of the shunt element exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

Abstract: This specification relates to fault current limiter (FCL). More particularly, to solve problems of protecting and designing current limiting impedance in a protective coordination system, as limitations of the related art, the fault current limiter may measure heat capacity of a current limiting impedance unit by detecting fault current flowing to the current limiting impedance unit and limiting the fault current flowing to the current limiting impedance unit according to the measured heat capacity, which may result in preventing the current limiting impedance unit from being damaged due to the fault current, preventing an extended accident due to the damaged current limiting impedance unit and enabling a stabilized system and line protection.

Abstract: An auto-recloser for a power line has a high voltage closing coil (12) for closing the main contact (14) in the power line, the closing coil being energized via a non-latching switching (18) in turn controlled by a low voltage closing coil (20). A time closing pulse is applied to the low voltage coil (20) to close switch (18) for a very short time period. A coil protection (24) monitors the status of the main contants (14) and if these have not closed after a preselected time period of typically 100 ms then the protection circuit opens a normally closed switch in series with the low voltage coil (20) to prevent further closing pulses being applied in further attempts to close the main contacts (14).

Abstract: A protective means for a series capacitor in a high-voltage network comprises a voltage-dependent resistor (varistor) arranged in parallel with the series capacitor, a spark gap arranged in parallel with the varistor for shunting the latter when it becomes overloaded, a current-sensing member, for example a current transformer, for sensing the current through the varistor, an energy absorption detector for sensing the temperature of the varistor, and a pulse transformer electrically or magnetically connected to the current-sensing member, for triggering the spark gap. During normal operation of the network and the series capacitor the current-sensing member is short-circuited by a normally closed switching device. This switching device is controlled by the energy absorption detector in such a way that the switching device is opened if the temperature of the varistor exceeds a predetermined level, whereby a trigger pulse, generated directly by the varistor current via the current-sensing member and the pulse transformer, may pass to the spark gap.
