    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a rotor for an electric motor, and an object of some embodiments is to maintain a rotor sub-assembly at an appropriate position without using a spacer and without applying excessive compressive stress to a magnet. A magnet and an end-plate are press-fitted into a ring-shaped member to form a rotor sub-assembly. A shaft is passed through the rotor sub-assembly. A nut is fastened onto the shaft, and fixes the axial position of the rotor sub-assembly with respect to the shaft. The shaft includes a step at which the shape of the shaft changes between a small-diameter portion and a large-diameter portion. An end face of the large-diameter portion that is exposed to outside of the small-diameter portion is adopted as a reference face. The end-plate is mounted to the ring-shaped member so as to oppose an axial end portion of the magnet. The end-plate includes a positioning portion that allows insertion of the small-diameter portion, contacts the reference face at an opposing face, and receives a fastening force produced by a nut at a pressure receiving face.

    摘要: A stator for an electrical machine includes teeth assembled from a plurality of stacked laminations mounted on a cylindrical protective surface thereby forming a plurality of slots. The stator also includes an armature winding assembled within the teeth by inserting components of the armature winding into the plurality of stator slots from positions external to the teeth in a manner that facilitates mitigating potential for coil distortion. The armature winding includes a plurality of coils that each include an end winding. The stator further includes a segmented yoke inserted around the armature winding in a manner that facilitates mitigating a potential for disturbing the end winding of the coils. Independently assembling the stator components in this manner facilitates varying a thickness and/or the number of heat conducting laminations between the yoke and teeth that subsequently facilitates heat transfer from the armature winding to an outer pressure casing of the machine.

    摘要: A composite barrier can and method of making same for use with industrial magnetic drive pumps. The barrier can is used to prevent leakage between the inner magnet assembly attached to the pump and the outer magnet assembly attached to the pump drive or motor. The barrier can is a non-metallic, composite barrier can composed of fiber and resin and includes a pole piece. The nonmetallic material and high strength configuration of the composite barrier can permits pump operation at high speeds and pressures with negligible eddy current generation. Using the composite barrier can results in minimizing heat developed in the coupling area and minimizing horsepower required from the motor. A resistance temperature detector is operatively positioned on the exterior of or within the fiber layer of the can such that the sensing portion of the detector is located proximate the closed end of the can. A method of manufacturing the barrier can is also disclosed.
