摘要:
An over-temperature protection circuit for a direct current (DC) electric tool includes a current detecting circuit electrically coupled to a battery pack, a power device control circuit electrically coupled to an electric motor of the DC electric tool and a power device for controlling the power state of the circuit. A computation control circuit controls the power supply of the motor according to the circuit current value detected by the current detecting circuit. When the electric motor is not in a speed control state, the allowable current passing through the over-temperature protection circuit of the DC electric tool cannot exceed a preset first current value. When the electric motor is in the speed control state, the allowable current passing through the over-temperature protection circuit of the DC electric tool cannot exceed a preset second current value less than the first current value.
摘要:
A system and method for preventing damage to a controller of an electric motor in a vehicle from back electromotive force, the vehicle having a battery, includes monitoring, in a circuit path, a voltage and a rotational speed generated by back-driving the motor. If power is supplied to the controller by the battery, the method includes comparing the voltage to an upper voltage threshold, comparing the rotational speed to an upper rotational speed threshold, and, if the voltage exceeds the upper voltage threshold or the rotational speed exceeds the upper rotational speed threshold, clamping the circuit path to the battery to charge the battery with the voltage. The method is performed by an electronic controller that may detect the voltage and rotational speed via controller ports, sensor transmissions, and the like.

A system and method for preventing thermal damage to an electric motor in a vehicle includes arrangements for monitoring the motor and detecting a cycle of the motor. If the cycle occurred within a predetermined increment time, a cycle count is incremented. If no cycle occurs for a predetermined decrement time, the cycle count is decremented if the cycle count is greater than zero. If the cycle count is at least equal to a cycle limit, power operation of the motor is deactivated for at least the decrement time. The method may include continuously calculating energy consumed by the motor and, if the energy consumed exceeds one or more allowable energy thresholds, setting the cycle count equal to the cycle limit. The method may further include detecting a failure condition and setting the cycle count equal to the cycle limit when the failure condition is detected.

A first inverter and a second inverter supply two coil sets forming a three-phase motor with AC voltages, which are the same in amplitude but shifted by 30° in phase. Current detectors detect phase currents supplied from the inverters to the coil sets. Temperature estimation sections estimate temperatures of the inverters or the coil sets based on an integration value of the phase current detection values. A current command value limitation section limits upper limits of current command values of both coil sets based on the estimated temperatures Tm1 and Tm2. Thus, the inverters and the coils sets are protected from overheating without increasing torque ripple.

A machine includes a rotor and a stator that is situated adjacent the rotor. The stator includes a plurality of wire-wound phases. The phases include at least first and second wire-wound phases that differ in temperature-responsive electrical resistance. A controller is in electrical communication with the stator. The controller is configured to identify an over-temperature condition of the stator based upon the differing temperature-responsive electrical resistance and modify the operation of the stator in response to the over-temperature condition.

A compressor is provided and includes a single-phase electric motor and a protector device. The electric motor drives a compression mechanism and has a rotor and a stator. The stator is comprised of aluminum windings. The protector device is attached to the stator and is configured to disconnect the electric motor from a power supply when an input voltage of the power supply to the electric motor is less than a threshold voltage value set at a level between a minimum run voltage and an overheat voltage of the compressor. The overheat voltage corresponds to an overheat temperature of the electric motor. The threshold voltage value is set at a level that is between the minimum run voltage and the overheat voltage. The protector device includes a tolerance level such that the threshold voltage minus the tolerance level is greater than the overheat voltage and the threshold voltage plus the tolerance level is less than the minimum run voltage.
