    摘要: A method for determining an optimum database query point during call delivery in a telecommunications network comprises a local number portability traffic analysis system (LNP-TAS) in communication with at least one originating central office switch and one standard terminating central office switch in the telecommunications network. The LNP-TAS receives LNP database-related query statistics from each central office switch at predetermined intervals to determine an optimum database query point based upon predefined optimization criteria. Upon determination of an optimum database query point, the LNP-TAS updates the appropriate switches with switch control update messages in accordance with the optimization determination.

    摘要: In a traffic view server (TVS) system in which the traffic through a telecommunications network is monitored, a database system is provided to enable high processing rate for the TVS, both for inserting the data into the system and for extracting the stored data out for reporting purposes. The database system is structured in three pieces, a first one handling statistics data from records that are collected by a traffic statistics system (MTS), a second one handling enhanced call detail records (ECDR) screened from the MTS, and a last one handling common material references. The statistics data are first stored in a fast response electronic storage medium, after they have been segregated into different basic types of statistics data. The thus segregated basic types of statistics data are then combined and forwarded for long term storage in a magnetic storage medium at a brief period of time after a predetermined time interval. On the other hand, the CDR and reference data are stored directly, but at a steady rate, to respective CDR and reference storage tables.

    摘要: Implementations of the present disclosure involve an apparatus and/or method for a regional independent tandem switch of a telecommunications network. The tandem switch processes communications between a long distance carrier and a local exchange carrier through a voice over IP (VOIP) network. By utilizing the VOIP network, the regionally independent tandem may process long distance communications to and from any point in the network, regardless of the physical proximity of the tandem to the originating/destination communication device. The regionally independent nature of the tandem also allows for flexibility in communication routing through the network, load balancing between the network tandem switches and reduction of needed components of the network for proper processing of the long distance communications.

    摘要: Failure of a local exchange in a communications network (such as the PSTN) is detected by monitoring a combination of parameters. Each parameter in the combination is monitored for meeting predetermined criteria. In particular, a local exchange failure is recognized when the average value of the All Circuits Engaged (ACE) parameters over all traffic routes into a local exchange rises in a significant manner and the average value of the Circuits in Service (CCTS IS) parameters over all traffic routes into that exchange decreases in a significant manner.

    摘要: A method of mediating message traffic across interfaces open to third parties in an Advanced Intelligent Network for a switched telephone system is disclosed. Network utilization is monitored by maintaining message counts at the open interfaces and rejecting messages or terminating access via the interface when an excessive rate of traffic is detected. Access to data bases stored in service control points is used to determine if the sender identified in the contents of the message is the same as the entity authorized to use the physical port upon which the message was received. Also, customer records in the service control point are tested to determine if the sender of the message is authorized to affect the call progress of an affected customer directory number identified in the message. Upon termination of the message traffic across a port, a default application is activated so that other network elements do not have to rely on timeouts to continue processing of calls.

    摘要: This invention relates to the minimizing of call set-up time for calls requiring the use of service circuits provided from a separate switching system, such as a service circuit node (SCN). Groups of semi-permanent circuits through a public switched telephone network (PSTN) are allocated to each of the switching systems served by the SCN. Thus, whenever a switching system has a call that requires the use of a service circuit housed in the SCN, the connection is already established. Traffic is controlled by limiting in the size of the semi-permanent circuit groups, but these groups can be made larger or smaller, up to some overall total for the SCN, as traffic to each switching system changes. Advantageously, this arrangement permits efficient use of a large group of service circuits at the SCN, while minimizing the total call set-up time.
