摘要： A facsimile apparatus having an automatic facsimile/telephone switching function, comprises detecting unit for detecting a high layer compatibility included in a setup message of an ISDN and control unit for immediately connecting the facsimile apparatus to a distant station when the high layer compatibility is indicating a facsimile apparatus. Thereby, in the case where the high layer compatibility is FAX, the FAX is immediately connected to the telephone line. Hence, the waste of time and wasteful bell sound can be eliminated.

摘要： In a communication apparatus connected to an ISDN and having a telephone function, the arrangement is such that when a call is received from another party's facsimile machine, the number of the sending party received is stored in memory. When depression of a communication start switch by the operator is detected during communication by facsimile, a call is made by telephone based on the stored sending party's number. When a call is made to the other party's fdacsimile machine, the other party's dial number is stored. If it is detected that the operator has taken a handset off the hook during communication by facsimile, a call is made by telephone based on the other party's dial number that has been stored.

摘要： A facsimile apparatus connected on an ISDN side in a communication network in which the ISDN is connected to a telephone network includes network identifying means for identifying whether an incoming data sending party is an ISDN terminal or a telephone network terminal, CNG signal detecting means for detecting a CNG signal received via a B channel, and changeover means for changing over between automatic reception and manual reception. In a case where the CNG signal is detected, a response is made in a facsimile mode. In a case where the CNG signal is not detected, a response is made in a facsimile mode if automatic reception prevails and in a telephone mode if manual reception prevails. This arrangement eliminates communication failure due to a difference in mode between a calling side and a called side regardless of the network terminal from which a call is received.

摘要： The ISDN user-network interface is defined in the CCITT D-channel protocol recommendation (I-400 series recommendations), in which many kinds of communication terminals (e.g. faximile, telephone, teletex, etc.) can communicate through a subscriber line. The user-network interface is improved from the view point of effectiveness of terminal usage, provision of communication service, and, flexibility of system configuration, by providing a control terminal in the subscriber. The control terminal doubles as ordinary terminal equipment, and has a global control function for controlling other subscriber terminal equipment. The control terminal establishes and/or releases a local control phase in which a control terminal controls ordinary terminal equipment in the same subscriber to have them correspond to the communication with another subscriber using the means which belong to the ordinary terminal equipment inherently. The control terminal operates as an ordinary terminal apparatus when it is not in local control phase.

摘要： A video conversation/monitoring system having a remote monitoring function includes a center station and multiple end stations linked through the ISDN network. The center station includes a video conversation/monitoring circuit, video input device, video output device, audio input device, audio output device, system controller, facsimile, and ISDN line terminating unit. Each end station includes a video conversation/monitoring circuit, system controller, first video input device, second video input device, audio input device, audio output device, calling device, first notification device, second notification device, detection device, facsimile, and ISDN line terminating unit. Based on the remote monitoring function of the video input device and the remote control function of the system controller for switching the video input device, various guidance services are accomplished in addition to the video-phonic conversation service. The integrated unit enables easy desk-top installation, the application of the ISDN network reduces the communication cost, and the provision of various state detection devices in the end stations enables image-based monitoring and state monitoring in addition to the conversation.

A terminal (21-28) may be coupled to more than one multiplexer (31, 32). Multiple BRI lines (16) may be used. The fax server (50) preferably contains an incoming generic module (51) that interacts with all incoming facsimiles, an incoming specific module (53) that interacts with facsimiles destined for selected ones of the facsimile devices (62, 64, 66), an outgoing generic module (52) that interacts with all outgoing facsimiles, and an outgoing specific module (54) that interacts with outgoing facsimiles that emanate from selected ones of the facsimile devices (62, 64, 66).

A decoder in the terminal automatically responds to a hexadecimal 7F formed by an extra bit added to the HDLC communications-starting flag when a 64 kb/s system transmits a 56 kb/s communication. The decoder responds by causing a speed controller in the terminal to reduce the effective data transfer rate.

摘要： A facsimile and a facsimile system are connected to an inside bus of an ISDN (integrated services digital network). When trouble, such as no toner, jam, no paper or the like, has occurred in a recording unit of a first facsimile apparatus on the inside bus, the first facsimile apparatus issues an announcement of interruption onto the bus. A second facsimile apparatus on the above-described bus monitors a signal on the bus. When the second facsimile has detected the announcement of interruption, it performs substituting reception in place of the first facsimile apparatus. It is thereby possible to maintain the continuation of communication even if trouble has occurred during reception and recording.
