摘要: Methods and apparatus for heating or cooling heat exchanger manifolds and side bars during transient operation to control structural deformation and resultant stresses. Special internal passages are provided in the manifolds and side bars of a plate-and-fin heat exchanger through which heated air is diverted during operation of the heat exchanger, thus serving to stabilize the temperature of selected portions of the heat exchanger in line with operating temperatures of related heat exchanger elements. This serves to minimize thermal gradients and resultant thermal stresses in the overall heat exchanger structure.

摘要: Heat exchanger apparatus for a gas turbine which is provided with a heat exchanger of the formed plate counterflow type including a core having a gas turbine exhaust gas inlet surface with integral air outlet manifolds, and an inlet gas temperature controller which controls the temperature of the gas impinging on the manifolds and core surface. The temperature controller consists of a housing defining a gas flow path to the heat exchanger core surface, fluid passages within the housing which direct the gas at substantially full gas temperature onto the manifolds, and heat absorber structure within the housing which absorbs heat from the gas to reduce the temperature to less than full gas temperature during transient conditions, such as turbine start-up, and directs the gas onto the core surface.

摘要: In a plate heat exchanger (1) comprising a package (3) of heat transfer plates (2) arranged between two frame plates at least one of the frame plates (6) is provided with connection pipes (9) for one or two heat exchange fluids. The connection pipes (9) are provided with internal linings (10), which are permanently connected round the ports (4) to an outer heat transfer plate (14) of the package (3) of heat transfer plates (2). Each lining (10) is arranged with room (12) for radial movement inside its connection pipe (9) and provided with at least one bellows (11) adapted--upon relative displacement between the one frame plate (6) and the outer heat transfer plate (14) in a direction across the connection pipe (9)--to facilitate bending of the lining (10). Thereby, a very compact plate heat exchanger (1) can be obtained.

摘要: A recuperative heat exchanger in which the material composition of the fins and plates varies in the flow direction of the higher temperature fluid according to the designed temperature and stress conditions. A first plate of high stress- and heatresistance quality material is welded edgewise to a second plate of lower stress- and heat-resistance quality material which in turn may be edge-welded to another plate of still lesser quality material. The resulting multi-material plate is then rolled to a desired thickness and formed to provide the particular heat exchanger element. A plurality of such elements, formed as plates and fins for example, are then fabricated into a unitary heat exchanger core and arranged in a position whereby the portions of the elements having the high stress- and heat-resistance qualities are at the higher temperature end of the heat exchanger.
