    摘要: The apparatus includes a stand for mounting a mandrel against rotation and a winding assembly for disposition within the mandrel. The mandrel has a slot for receiving a flat sheet through a side wall of the mandrel. A clamping mechanism on the winding assembly clamps the leading edge to the winding assembly within the mandrel. By winding the assembly, the flat sheet is drawn into the mandrel and formed into an arcuate configuration. The mandrel with curved sheet is removed from the stand and disposed in an oven for setting the plastic material in the curved configuration whereby the flat sheet is preformed into a radius approximating the radius of the rotational part about which the insulation will be installed.

    摘要: An elongated, plastic slide fastener stringer of the modified, continuous helix type in which each fastener element extends substantially in a plane transverse to the direction of stringer elongation, and the elements are longitudinally connected by integral portions of the helix. Each element consists of a substantially U-shaped front reverse turn formed with a coupling surface and a substantially U-shaped rear reverse turn, the reverse turns each having a first terminal part and a second terminal part, the first terminal parts being integrally joined to each other, and the second terminal parts being integrally joined to respective connecting portions. A protuberance on the second terminal part of the rear reverse turn is aligned in the direction toward the coupling surface and beyond the connecting portion joined to the second terminal part of the reverse turn for abutting engagement, and provides anchorage for sewing thread fastening the stringer to a support.

    摘要: A strand of plastics material is converted into a slide fastener stringer by apparatus including a device for coiling the strand on a mandrel; a pair of wheels toothed according to the desired spacing of the elements in the stringer, the reduced terminating end of the mandrel engaging between the wheels; a braking member in the reception area of the pair of wheels on one side of the mandrel; a heatable shaping wheel having peripheral recesses between radial cross pieces to receive the elements, and pins projecting between the elements to support the elementinterconnecting portions of the coiled strand. A kinking disc cooperates with the shaping wheel by means of teeth which face the pins of the shaping wheel and the interconnecting portions supported on the pins and align the same in the longitudinal direction of the stringer.
