摘要： In a multitasking machine tool, a first tool post including a tool spindle configured to allow a tool to be detachably attached thereto is configured to be slidable in predetermined directions, while a second tool post is configured to allow a tool to be detachably attached thereto. A tool-change part includes at least one gripper configured to hold a tool to be attached to the second tool post. An automatic tool changer is configured to detachably attach the tool-change part (as well as to change the tool installed) to the tool spindle of the first tool post positioned in a first tool-change region. Change of the tool attached to the second tool post is carried out by a motion (sliding and/or rotation of the tool spindle) of the first tool post (with the tool-change part attached to the tool spindle thereof) located in a second tool-change region.

摘要： A tool changing apparatus for a machine tool comprising, adjacent an operating space, an indexable tool carrier displaceable in two feed directions defining a plane of movement and comprising a plurality of tool receiving means each including a holding means, which is provided with a clamping device, for inserting and securely clamping a base of a tool as well as a clamping element having a predetermined direction of movement for tightening and releasing the clamping device, and also comprising a tool gripping device having an actuating device adapted to be coupled to the clamping element. To avoid the necessity of moving a tool, which is to be interchanged, in two directions during tool changing, this tool changing apparatus is designed such that, in a tool receiving means, the slide-on direction of the holding means, the axial direction of the clamping element and the coupling direction of the actuating device for the clamping element are all parallel to one another and that the tool gripping device may be moved towards the tool receiving means transversely to the row formed by these tool receiving means and parallel to the slide-on direction.

摘要： An automatic tool changer for a lathe is provided having a rotating drum-type tool storage magazine mounted to the cross slide of the lathe and rotatable to align any one of a plurality of tool holder assemblies and their tools, supported by the magazine, with a guide channel through which a selected tool holder assembly and tool can be slid to the active position, or tool past, on the cross slide, for operating on the workpiece supported by the lathe. A stationary, double-acting, hydraulic piston is disposed in the central portion of the drum-type magazine, having its piston rod in alignment with the guide channel and having a tool holder assembly shuttle member attached to the rod, for transporting an active tool and holder assembly from its ready position in the magazine, in a straight line radially outward from the magazine to the tool post, and for returning the tool holder assembly and tool to their storage position on the magazine after use.

摘要： A machine tool including, a rotatable turret having oppositely disposed tool holders for alternatively positioning one of the tool holders in an active or cutting position relative to a workpiece and the other of the tool holders in an inactive or idle position, a magazine having a plurality of tool holding devices successively movable past a tool interchange station, tool transfer means for transferring tools between the magazine and the inactive turret tool holder, and means for retrieving a desired tool from the magazine. The retrieving means includes a stationary memory bank mounted independent of the magazine tool holding devices. The memory bank has a memory element allocated to each of the magazine tool holding devices which is susceptive of storing the arbitrary identifier of a tool positioned in the magazine tool holder to which it is allocated, and an accessing circuit for successively accessing the magazine tool holder memory elements as the tool holders to which they are respectively allocated successively move past the interchange station. A comparison circuit successively compares the identifiers stored in the successively accessed memory elements with the identifier of a desired tool, producing an output when the identifier of the desired tool is located at the interchange station. The contents of the memory elements allocated to the magazine tool storage devices, as well as certain additional memroy elements allocated to the turret tool holders, are updated when a tool is transferred between the magazine and the inactive turret tool holder or between the active and inactive turret tool holders.

Each of the tool holders can move into and out of a respective secondary transfer position for switching a tool, one of the tools is removed from the magazine with the loader and moved by the loader into the primary transfer position, then the one tool is transferred position to the grab of the transfer arm. This arm is them pivoted to move the one tool in the grab from the primary transfer position into one of the secondary transfer positions, and then the tool at the one secondary transfer position is transferred from the grab to the respective holder.
