Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for braking or locking a shaft (6) of a microtome (1). The microtome (1) comprises the shaft (6), an actuating element (2), a movement mechanism (37) and a housing (38). With the movement mechanism (37) an object to be cut can be moved relative to a knife blade. The actuating element (2) can be manually actuated by an operator. As a result thereof, the shaft (6) can be rotated. Via the shaft (6), the movement mechanism (37) for performing the relative motion between the object and the knife blade can be driven. Further, the present invention relates to a method for operating a device for braking a shaft (6) of a microtome (1). So that the device can be used in a mechanically formed movement mechanism (37), the inventive device is characterized by an actuator and a braking unit (25). The braking unit (25) is connected in a rotatably fixed manner to the shaft (6). With the actuator, the braking unit (25) can be automatically placed in a brake position in which the shaft (6) can be connected in a rotatably fixed manner to the housing (11).

The cutting apparatus further includes a bearing with its inner race fixed to the first annular member, a disk cutter fixed relative to an outer race of the bearing, and a balancer fixed to the rotating shaft in a state being eccentric in the direction opposite to the eccentric direction of the first annular member.
Abstract:
A movable handle for a power tool. The power tool comprises a housing, a motor supported by the housing and operable to drive a tool element about an axis, and a handle supported by the housing for rotation relative to the housing about the axis. Preferably, the power tool is a circular saw. The circular saw further comprises a switch assembly supported on the handle for movement with the handle and means for connecting the switch to the motor to accommodate movement of the switch relative to the motor. The switch assembly is electrically connectable to the motor and selectively connects the motor to a power source, and the connecting means includes a wiring arrangement. The circular saw further comprises a locking assembly for locking the handle in a position relative to the housing. Also, the circular saw preferably comprises means for preventing the switch assembly from connecting the motor to the power source when the locking assembly is in the unlocked condition and means for preventing the locking assembly from being operated from the locked condition to the unlocked condition when the switch assembly is in the operated condition.
Abstract:
A radial arm saw guard with operational interlock and adjustable outfeed user barrier is disclosed. The radial saw includes a motor driven saw blade that is mounted on a yoke depending from a supporting arm that overhangs a worktable. The motor driven saw blade is movable relative to a worktable mounted fence in order to enable the motor driven saw blade to be operated for rip cutting of workpieces longitudinally relative to the fence and for cross cutting transverse relative to the fence. A blade guard is mounted in fixed position relative to the yoke for covering at least approximately an upper half of the motor driven saw blade. An adjustable outfeed user barrier is mounted to the upper blade guard for operation between an upper disengaged position exposing the motor driven saw blade and a lower engaged position covering an outfeed end of the motor driven saw blade to protect a user during rip cutting. An interlock prevents rip cutting by the motor driven saw blade unless the adjustable outfeed user barrier is in its lower engaged position. The adjustable outfeed user barrier, in addition to being adjustable for workpieces of different thickness, is also adjustable for accommodating motor driven saw blades of different diameter.
Abstract:
A punching and shearing machine in which a single hydraulic cylinder (1) operates alternatively the punch or the shear of the machine. When the punch is operative, a manually operated eccentric lever (16) blocks the shear carrying member (8) so that the stem (6) of the piston in the hydraulic cylinder (1) causes motion of the punch carrying member (3). If, on the other hand, the shear is to be operated, another manually operated eccentric lever (14) blocks the punch carrying member (3), so that the external part of the hydraulic cylinder, which is connected to the shear carrying member (8), causes the motion of the shear carrying member only. Safety micro-switches are provided to interrupt the hydraulic circuit controlling the cylinder (1), if the eccentrics (14, 16) are both free or both are blocking a tool carrying member.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a punch press having upper and lower punching tools to punch a workpiece, a workpiece positioning device to move and position the workpiece, a lower tool support member on which the lower punching tool is detachably mounted, and a slide base on which the tool support member is slidably mounted. The boundary surfaces between the tool support member and the slide base are inclined to allow the lower tool to be obliquely lowered away from the workpiece positioning device.
Abstract:
A punch press has a punching tool assembly removably coupled to the ram, and it carries a plurality of punching pins which are individually selectable for a punching operation. A rotatable cam moves the selected punch pin from a retracted position in the tool assembly to an operative punching position, and the cam is driven by a retractable drive mechanism which is movable into engagement with the rotatable cam to effect such rotation and retracted to an inoperative position, by a moving means. Control means is provided to effect operation of the moving means and of the drive mechanism, and is operable to effect precise rotation of the cam member.
Abstract:
The trimming apparatus and fixture for holding a PC board prior to and during trimming of an upper surface of the PC board utilizes a trimming blade rotated by a variable speed motor. This apparatus includes X and Y motion mechanism moved by hand grips that are spaced apart and cooperate with push button switches providing a safety control circuit. The X and Y motion mechanism employs linear ball bushings mounted and movable on hardened steel shafts. Removable holding fixtures are employed to hold and retain the PC boards during trimming. One holding fixture is used for PC boards that are not warped and not likely to warp. This fixture holds the PC board on three sides and a quick acting cam clamp is actuated to retain and release a PC board. Another fixture is adapted to hold and retain a PC board that is warped or likely to warp. Vacuum is used with a plurality of standoffs to establish the desired holding plane of this PC board. A quick opening aperture is uncovered to release both negative pressure and the PC board after trimming. A third fixture employs a top plate which is positioned by dowells. On this fixture and in this plate is formed a plurality of receiving openings for PC boards of small and/or irregular size. Vacuum is also employed as well as standoffs. The interior chamber of this fixture is provided with a quick opening lever plate that is manipulated to uncover an aperture and bring the interior of the fixture to atmospheric pressure.
