摘要： A high-speed wastepaper roll cutter throws the roll rapidly and with great force against the downwardly facing cutting edge of a solidly supported, stationary knife to initially cut through several convolutions and release the tight winding of the paper in the roll. The full momentum of the rising, roll-supporting platform and the roll thereon is added to the thrusting force to start the cutting action. Once the tight winding of the roll has been released as a result of such intense impact, high, uninterrupted, steady pressure of the roll immediately and continuously exerted against the knife edge quickly and efficiently completes the cutting operation.

摘要： A simple hydraulically operated label die cutting machine wherein the ram which forces a stack of labels through the cutting die, and a shuttle which moves a stack of labels into position over the ram, are both hydraulically operated. The shuttle and ram operate in timed relation to each other automatically. Provision is made for jogging either the ram or the shuttle independently of each other. A safety switch is provided to stop the machine if the operator''s hand is still on a stack of labels being moved into position by the shuttle when the stack of labels is about to enter into position over the ram. Additional safety for the operator is provided by relatively low pressure operation of the piston which actuates the shuttle, so that the shuttle can be held manually without great exertion. The cutting die is held by two pairs of mutually opposed chuck jaws whereby the die may be adjusted linearly in two directions at right angles to each other, and the chuck jaws are mounted on a plate which may be rotated and clamped in the desired position for the rotational alignment with the stack. The die holding portion of the machine is anchored to the main machine frame which carries the ram cylinder by means of corner posts, which thus take the strain of the die cutting operation.

The horizontal clamps hold the stacked items against an aligning fence and the vertical clamps hold the stacked items against the sliding table. 摘要： A finger jointing machine in which timber is fed on a horizontal support table and is clamped against this table and against a vertical guide fence adjacent the table. The timber is clamped with the rear end of one piece of timber spaced from the front end of a second piece of timber at a defined spacing.A cutting and gluing unit is movable vertically through the space and carries two rotatable cutters, rotatable about horizontal axes, each cutter having axially spaced teeth, the teeth of one cutter being axially spaced from those of the other by half the spacing between the teeth. The cutters are caused to rotate in opposite directions so that the teeth of one cutter engaging the rear end of the one piece of timber and the teeth of the other cutter engaging the front end of the other piece of timber are both moving upwardly as the cutting and gluing unit is caused to move upwardly. The cutting and gluing unit also includes two ribbed gluing rollers arranged one below each of the cutters, the ribs of the gluing rollers being disposed directly below the teeth of the cutter thereabove, so that they pass through the groove formed by the respective cutter thereabove. The cutting is effected by vertical upward movement of the cutters and support members are arranged which themselves have the shape of the fingers and prevent the wood from breaking out as the cutters pass up to the top surface. These cutters are retracted immediately after the cutters have gone by so that glue is not deposited thereon.
