    摘要： A miter saw is adapted for performing lengthwise, or rip, operations on a work piece such as wood. A back support arm is positioned off-center such that the work piece can be inserted under the miter saw substantially parallel to the blade. An arcuate aperture in the back support arm ensures that bevel adjustment properly aligns the blade with the blade slot during bevel cuts. An adjustable rail enables the work piece to be positioned in either a normal position, for crosswise cuts, or an orthogonal position, for lengthwise cuts. A toggle switch overrides the on/off switch on the handle, useful when the work piece is fed from behind. Two separate sleeves cover the blade, assuring safety during operation for both lengthwise and crosswise cuts. A tensioning board feed roller holds the work piece in place during lengthwise cutting.

    摘要： Stabilizing apparatus for controlling the position of a workpiece relative to a tool. The stabilizing apparatus includes an elongated base for attachment to the tool, an elongated adjustable support that is essentially parallel to the base, and an interconnecting structure that enables the adjustable support to move relative to the base. When a workpiece moves toward the tool, it displaces the adjustable support toward the base thereby compressing springs in the interconnecting structure. This produces a clamping force against an opposed work support surface that stabilizes the position of the workpiece transversely to the direction of travel but allows movement along the work path. Multiple stabilizing apparatus can be used to provide both vertical and horizontal clamping forces.

    摘要： An overload assembly is disclosed for use with a tube cutting apparatus of the type having a die set for holding a tube while a blade cuts the tube. The die set comprises two die jaws having cam followers which contact a die jaw cam to move the die jaws to clamp the tube. The overload assembly allows one of the die jaws of the die set to stop moving when an obstruction is encountered. The overload assembly includes a spring mounted through a lever arm to the cam follower. An overload biasing force is applied to the cam follower through the lever arm. If an obstruction force exceeds the overload biasing force, the lever arm is rotated and the effective length of the lever arm is reduced, causing the overload biasing force to decay to a lesser value. A scarfing blade may initially score the tube prior to cutting. In one embodiment, the overload biasing force is applied to the die jaw which does not encounter a binding force between the scarfing blade and the tube.
