A harvest aid machine and method of use is provided comprising a machine having a main chassis. The main chassis includes a roof, a lateral conveyor belt, a chute for storing empty harvest containers and worker stations. The harvest aid machine is powered by a motor and moves using a directional wheel and two rear wheels. Workers load empty containers onto the chute and after the containers slide down the chute, the empty containers rest in a storage station accessible by additional workers. When a worker is ready to harvest a crop, the worker removes the container from the chute and places harvested crops inside the container. The worker then places the harvested crop filled container onto a worker station. After the worker collects multiple harvested crop filled containers, the worker pushes the containers onto a conveyor belt system, adjacent to the worker station, that runs laterally on the machine. When it is time to offload the containers, the conveyor belt system is activated and the containers slide down to one end of the machine to be loaded into a designated vehicle or area. The machine travels through the crop field and can gradually turn onto a different furrow when harvesting of the crops is complete in one area of the field.

The vehicle assembly 20 includes four user support assemblies 23, namely a master control support assembly 100 and three slave control support assemblies 101, supported by support means 24 and 84 on transportation means 25 which is capable of movement along the furrows such that the user assemblies 23 are positioned above respective rows 22 of crops. The master control user support assembly 100 is provided with direction control means 67 for selectively controlling the movement of the vehicle assembly in either a forward or a reverse direction and steering actuation means 68 for steering the vehicle assembly 20 and wherein the remainder of said user support assemblies 101 are slave control positions having direction control means 72 for selectively controlling the movement of the vehicle assembly in either a forward or a reverse direction.

A steering system for a personnel carrier of a relatively slow moving type, useful for carrying farmers through grain fields performing manual weed-removal functions. The steering system utilizes a foot movable pallet conveniently positioned for engagement by feet of a seated, carried person. Drive cables from a shaft supporting the pallet to anchor positions connecting with the carrier frame are provided so that turning the pallet may turn a steerable wheel or wheels of the carrier.
