摘要： A self-coherent particulate magnetic mulch to protect selected ground areas from erosion by wind and/or rain and suppress the growth of undesired vegetation. The mulch is composed of magnetic particles having a rough diameter ranging from about 1 millimeter to about 25 millimeters, preferably from about 6 millimeters to about 13 millimeters. A protective ground cover is formed by applying the particulate magnetic mulch to the area to be protected at a suitable thickness.

摘要： A biodegradable mat promotes growth and health of vegetation. The mat includes a plurality of biodegradable fibers weaved into a mat sized and shaped for placement adjacent vegetation. At least one of a fertilizer and an herbicide are broadcast spread on the mat. A bittering agent is adhered to the mat, which also serves to adhere the fertilizer and/or herbicide to the mat. The resulting construction retains moisture, releases fertilizer, blocks soils from weed seeds, kills emergent weeds below the mat, and resists foraging by deer and rodents. The mat is easy to transport and handle, and installation requires considerably less labor than conventional mulch.

摘要： A mulch film for enhancing agricultural growth is disclosed. A layer of aluminum is vacuum metallized on a surface of a polymeric film substrate. The substrate is preferably black or white. The substrate is preferably a monolayer or a coextruded layer. In one embodiment, the polymeric film substrate is formed by coextrusion of a high density and a low density polyurethane. The substrate preferably has a thickness of at least 1.0 mil. There are also disclosed embodiments of the invention where stripes or portions of the substrate are intentionally shielded from having a layer of aluminum deposited thereon in various configurations. In yet another embodiment, substantially all of the surface of the substrate is vacuum metallized with a layer of aluminum. In yet another embodiment, the substrate is a transparent polymeric film having a color. Additionally, there is disclosed a method of forming the embodiments of the invention as described above.
