Abstract:
A personal care kit comprising separate containers packaged together in a unitary form comprising a product suitable for oral consumption and a topical personal care product and a method of improving the condition of skin and/or hair by following a regimen utilizing the kit of the present invention.
Abstract:
A method for regulating the appearance of skin comprising topically applying to said skin a composition comprising: (a) a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and about 0.05% to about 5% of an extract comprising a low molecular weight hydrolysable tannins, and mixtures thereof; (b) an effective amount of at least one additional skin care active ingredient selected from the group consisting of ant-acne actives, retinoids, ant-cellulite agents, antimicrobial actives, antifungal agents, vitamins, anti-inflamatory agents, tanning agents, allantoin, glucosamine, phytantriol, hydroxyacids, niacinamide, phytosterols, sunscreens and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
A pharmaceutical or cosmetic carrier or composition for topical application characterized by rheological properties which render the carrier or composition semi-solid at rest and a liquid upon application of shear forces thereto. The composition or carrier are prepared by mixing 1-25 percent of a solidifying agent and 75-99 percent of a hydrophobic solvent, by weight, wherein at least one of them has therapeutic or cosmetic benefits, in the presence or absence of a biologically active substance.
Abstract:
This invention is a cosmetic material containing a pasty composition obtained by adding at least one acidic substance selected from a group comprising organic acids, phosphoric acid and phosphates to a mixture comprising a crosslinking type organopolysiloxane polymer having a polyoxyalkylene group and a liquid oil, adding a basic neutralizing agent to adjust the pH to 5-8, and removing volatile components by heating and/or decompression. This pasty composition is a composition wherein the propionaldehyde amount produced by adding an identical amount of water to the composition and heating at 60null C. for 24 hours is 100 ppm or less.
Abstract:
A method of identifying a hair growth modulator (i.e., hair growth inhibitor or inducer) which comprises identifying a P-cadherin modulator (i.e., P-cadherin inhibitor or inducer); and testing whether the P-cadherin modulator is functional as a hair growth modulator.
Abstract:
The present disclosure, in one embodiment, relates to a cosmetic composition for caring for or making up the skin and/or epidermal derivatives and/or lips, which comprises a physiologically acceptable medium comprising a) at least one liquid fatty phase, b) a dispersion of at least one polymer particle dispersed in the at least one liquid fatty phase, and c) at least one ester of at least one carboxylic acid comprising 1 to 7 carbons and at least one polyol comprising at least 4 hydroxyl groups, the at least one ester having a molecular mass of less than 5,000 g/mol. This composition allows a film to be obtained on the skin, epidermal derivatives or lips which does not undergo transfer, has good staying power and goes on easily.
Abstract:
The present invention relates, firstly, to a cosmetic and/or dermatological composition intended for treating keratin fibres, in particular human keratin fibres and more particularly human hair, comprising, in a support which is suitable for keratin fibres: (a) at least one enzyme of 2-electron oxidoreductase type in the presence of at least one donor for the said enzyme; (b) at least one substantive polymer chosen from the group consisting of: (i) cationic cellulose derivatives; (ii) dimethyidiallylammonium halide homopolymers and copolymers of dimethyidiallylammonium halide and of (meth)acrylic acid; (iii) methacryloyloxyethyltrimethylammonium halide homopolymers and copolymers; (iv) polyquaternary ammonium polymers; (v) vinylpyrrolidone polymers containing cationic units; (vi) mixtures thereof. The present invention also relates to processes for treating keratin fibres, in particular processes for dyeing, permanently reshaping or bleaching the hair using this composition.
Abstract:
The invention provides personal care products that do not contain D4 and/or D5 cyclomethicones but which do have the skin feel, spreadability, and other physical and chemical characteristics of personal care products that do contain these cyclomethicones. The products of the invention include a neopentyl polyol polyester(s) derived from neopentyl glycol, an isoparaffin(s), and a personal care formulation. Also included are replacement compositions for use in personal care products (so that D4 and D5 cyclomethicones can be excluded from the formulation) and methods of preparing personal care products and replacement compositions.
Abstract:
The invention is a clear (50-250 NTU at 21.0 degrees C.), high efficacy liquid gel composition which is a low viscosity (about 5,000-75,000 centipoise) water-in-oil, elastomer-free emulsion. These liquid gels comprise a glycine containing antiperspirant active with a low metal to chloride ratio in a high water content (>30 weight % of the formula) internal (aqueous) phase, a copolyol, and a fragrance solubilizer in the external phase. The external (oil) phase of the composition is free of silicone emollients that have a high refractive index (R.I. >1.4200). The liquid gel antiperspirant/deodorant compositions of this invention comprise a minimum of at least 14 weight % of the active salt.
Abstract:
A composition and process of preparation of emulsifier agents based on an alkylpolyglycoside structure with a length of alkyl chain having from 6 to 12 carbon atoms to be used. The resulting emulsions exhibit an excellent dispersion of the fillers and/or pigments without it being necessary to add coemulsifier or dispersant. The emulsifier makes it possible, by itself alone, to prevent the reagglomeration of the fillers and/or pigments.
