    摘要: The present invention provides a fruit polyphenol obtained by subjecting unripe fruits of Rosaceae to pressing and/or extraction and then purifying the resulting juice or extract. The present invention further provides an antioxidant, a hypotensive agent, an antimutagenic agent, an antiallergic agent and an anticariogenic agent each comprising, as an effective component, a fruit polyphenol obtained by subjecting unripe fruits of Rosaceae to pressing and/or extraction and then purifying the resulting juice or extract. The fruit polyphenol of the present invention has various physiological activities, for example, an antioxidative activity, an ACE-inhibiting activity, an antimutagenic activity, a hyalulonidase-inhibiting activity and a GTase-inhibiting activity.

    摘要: A method of lowering blood cholesterol in a non-diabetic human patient by at least 30% is described. The method involves orally administering for 30 consecutive days a fenugreek seed extract composition. Various methods of preparation and various formulations are described. Agents such as pharmaceutically acceptable excipients, lubricants, binders, glidants, fillers, flavoring agents, vitamins, minerals, active agents other than fenugreek, herbal extracts other than fenugreek, carriers and mixtures thereof may be additionally incorporated into the fenugreek seed extract composition. Physiologically effective dosage forms (liquid and solid) containing fenugreek seed extract compositions are also disclosed.

    摘要: This invention provides a process for extracting a pharmaceutically active fraction from the foliage (leaves and stems) and/or roots of Rauvolfia vomitoria and the fruit of Citrus aurantium. In one aspect, the process requires extracting from a boiled tea of Rauvolfia vomitoria foliage and/or roots and Citrus aurantium fruit an active fraction made by filtering the boiled tea and concentrating the supernatant. In one embodiment, the fraction is concentrated by freeze drying the supernatant. The fraction is useful to treat a disorder associated with abnormally elevated glucose levels in a subject by administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of the extract or a pharmaceutical composition containing the extract. Such conditions include, but are not limited to the diabetes Type II, abnormal steraroyl-CoA desaturase activity, hyperphagia, abnormal lipid mobilization, abnormal fatty acid profile from the eye of the subject, ulcers and a glucosuria.
