Abstract: A liquid spray module which can be individually used, or which can be easily mounted in ganged side-by-side relation with a plurality of such modules. Each module includes a spray gun cartridge having liquid passages through the liquid to be sprayed, is directed and one or more air passages through which pressurized air may be directed for assisting in atomization of the liquid and controlling operating movement of a valve needle. Each spray gun cartridge further includes a manifold body having a central bore into which the spray gun cartridge is removably mounted and liquid and air inlet and outlet passages which communicate with the liquid and air spray gun cartridge passages. The spray gun cartridge is removable from the manifold body without disconnection of fluid supply lines to the manifold body and without removal of the manifold body from a ganged mounted array of such spray modules.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing man-made snow without using either compressed air or high-speed fans. The method makes use of a special water nozzle that is designed to provide a high volume spray of water particles that, owing to their size distribution (having a median size of between about 100 and 200 microns) in the spray, are readily susceptible to conversion to ice crystals as they settle to earth under favorable ambient conditions. Preferably, water applied to the nozzle is seeded with artificial nucleation sites so that water particles in a spray containing such sites are more susceptible to conversion to ice crystals as the particles settle to earth.

Abstract: In a cleaning nozzle, a trumpet-shaped portion made up of multiple inclined portions or a curved portion is formed upstream of a minimum diameter portion of an ejection nozzle portion of a converging-diverging shape, and a gas ejection port is opened to an intermediate part of the trumpet-shaped portion. Inside the gas ejection port is formed a cleaning liquid ejection port. A gas is ejected at a higher speed than that of a cleaning liquid from the cleaning liquid ejection port to transform the cleaning liquid into droplets, which are further accelerated by a tapered portion formed downstream of the minimum diameter portion before being ejected. A small amount of liquid may be supplied to a pressurized gas passage between a powder injection portion and the cleaning nozzle to prevent a possible clogging of passage due to powder.

Abstract: A twin fluid centrifugal nozzle for a spray dryer comprises a holder (10) having an annular cavity (11) which holds a sealing ring (12). Above the sealing ring (12) is a large annular recess (13) and an annular passage (14) of slightly increased diameter. The large annular recess (13) seats an orifice disc (16). A vortex chamber block (17) and a twin fluid feed block (18), which are constructed as one piece, are located in the large passage (14). The orifice disc (16) is a release mechanism for the swirling liquid, in the form of a round disc with apertures therein, through which liquid discharges to form a spray. The swirl or vortex chamber (23) has cyclone shape. One or more atomised liquid inlet passage(s) (24) extend to the vortex chamber (23) in a substantially tangential entry relative to the generally circular cross-section of the chamber (23). Air or steam enters the tangential inlet passage (24), from the passage (19), at a point (26), which is outermost or peripheral, relative to the axis of swirl chamber (23). The liquid flows through the passage (20), and enters the tangential entry passage (24) at a liquid entry point (25), which is located at the venturi point (27) of the tangential entry (24). The liquid enters (25) the stream of air or steam at an angle to the stream, and is pre-atomised in the stream. This pre-atomisation increases the swirl velocity of the liquid in the vortex chamber (23), imparting a higher centrifugal force to liquid droplets emerging from the orifice disc (16).

Abstract: A high efficiency liquid fuel atomizer includes an elongated generally tubular member defining a liquid fuel pre-atomization chamber. The tubular member has an outer wall that extends around the chamber, an upstream end adapted for connection to a source of liquid fuel and a downstream fuel delivery outlet.
