    摘要: A system for controlling a thickness of a strip being rolled by a rolling mill having more than two rolling stands, in tandem configuration. A subcontrol unit controls a rolling speed and a rolling load of a final rolling stand according to a predetermined control schedule. A plurality of tension gauge units installed between adjacent rolling stands detect a tension of the strip. A plurality of thickness gauge units including at least first thickness gauge unit installed on the output side of a first rolling stand, second thickness gauge unit installed on the output side of a penultimate rolling stand, and final thickness gauge unit installed on the output side of the final rolling stand, detect a deviation in the thickness of the strip from a predetermined value. A thickness control unit, connected to the tension gauge units and the thickness gauge units, controls the thickness and the tension of the strip to respective predetermined values by adjusting a roll gap and the rolling speed of the rolling stands except the final rolling stand, based on the detected tensions and the detected deviations of the strip. A feedback unit controls a rolling speed of an antepenultimate rolling stand according to the detected deviation of the last thickness gauge unit and the detected deviation of the second thickness gauge unit to adjust the thickness of the strip to the predetermined value.

    摘要: A cascade speed control for tensionless production in a rolling mill by the measurement of stand motor current with temperature compensation. A low tension speed ratio between pairs of mill stands is calculated by successive incremental corrections. The corrections are based on the difference between a no tension current and a tension current for the motors of the mill stands as compensated for temperature variation. In one embodiment a compensation factor is calculated by taking the temperature difference of the material at the times the currents are measured and multiplying the difference by an empirical constant which relates the change in motor current to a change in temperature for a particular plant. Another embodiment illustrates temperature compensation by using current compensation values which are obtained by storing a no tension current profile for one of the mill stands. The low tension speed ratios between stands are maintained by cascading variations in the speed of a subsequent stand down to a previous stand.

Then, in the second stage, when the metal is introduced into stand (n+1), the value of the rolling torque in stand (n) is held constant by controlling the speed regulator of stand (n) up to the time the metal is introduced into stand (n+2). Finally, in the third stage, which continues until the rolling operation in stand (n) has been completed, the voluminal flow of the metal is held constant at the line of each stand by applying a multiplier coefficient to the signal representing the ratio between the speeds of two successive stands.

The rolling force, rolling torque, incoming workpiece thickness and roll gap at a second rolling stand are detected when the workpiece is fed into the nip between the rolls of the second rolling stand to provide their reference values P.sub.20, G.sub.20, H.sub.20 and S.sub.20 which are stored in a memory, and the reference torque arm l.sub.20 for the second rolling stand is computed on the basis of the reference values G.sub.20 and P.sub.20 of rolling torque and rolling force. The torque arms l.sub.1 and l.sub.2 for the first and second rolling stands are then computed on the basis of the reference torque arms l.sub.10, l.sub.20 ; detected rolling forces P.sub.1, P.sub.2 ; detected roll gaps S.sub.1, S.sub.2 ; detected incoming workpiece thicknesses H.sub.1, H.sub.2 ; and variations .DELTA.P.sub.1, .DELTA.P.sub.2, .DELTA.S.sub.1, .DELTA.S.sub.2, .DELTA.H.sub.1 and .DELTA.H.sub.2 of the reference values. The interstand tension is computed on the basis of the computed torque arms l.sub.1, l.sub.2, and detected rolling torques G.sub.1, G.sub.2 and rolling forces P.sub.1, P.sub.2, and the roll drive main motor is regulated to compensate the deviation of the computed interstand tension from the desired value to maintain the interstand tension constant throughout the rolling operation.

    摘要: Mechanism for determining and varying the tension present in a rod being rolled as it passes between adjacent stands in a rod mill. The read-out gives an indication enabling the operator to make manual speed adjustment of the rolls to change the rod tension to the desired norm, or through a feed-back device the roll speeds may be changed automatically to achieve the same result. The mechanism operates on the principle of temporarily applying a transverse force moved through a fixed distance against the moving rod. The resistance to this force measured by a load cell and associated meters will give an indication of the then existing rod tension as it moves between adjacent roll stands and an indication of the adjustment to be made in roll speeds to change the rod tension to the desired norm.
