摘要: The present disclosure relates to a structure for electrically-connecting an external conductor. The structure comprises a wiring-substrate comprising a stack based arrangement of a plurality of layers, wherein said layers are defined as electrically conducting layers and insulating layer. A rivet is supported from the wiring substrate and comprises an embedded portion within the wiring substrate. The embedded portion comprises: an upper section extending through the stack of the plurality of layers, and, a bottom section extending laterally with reference to the upper section. A portion protruding from wiring substrate is provided for receiving an external-conductor and for thereby electrically connecting with the wiring substrate.

摘要: A double-contact rivet is formed from wire portions cut from wire supplies. The wire portions are aligned so that outer portions of electric contact material are located on either side of a central portion of support material, and the two outer portions are cold-welded to the central portion. One end of the body so formed is punched to provide a contact head while the bead formed by the cold-welding at the other end is pressed to a substantially flat ring form and hardened by rapid cooling. The hardened ring bead is cleanly cut from the remainder of the rivet.

摘要: A tri-metallic electrical contact consisting of a head wire piece and a base wire piece which abut to an intermediate piece at its opposite ends, is produced by cold press operations performed by first and second die and punch sets. The first die and punch set causes plastic deformation of approximately only a half part of the aligned wire pieces, while keeping another half part of these pieces not deformed. The second die and punch set imparts, subsequent to, and independently from, the cold press operation performed by the first die and punch set, plastic deformation to the other half part of the pieces, whereby the abutting surfaces of the three wires are prevented from sliding movements laterally relative to each other during the cold press operations, and whereby irregular or insufficient deformation of the wires due to the differences of yield points of the wires is prevented.

摘要: A machine for making trimetal contacts having a body of relatively low cost metal, such as copper, and contact surfaces of an expensive metal such as silver, the machine including a plate rotatable in a vertical plane carrying a plurality of matrices spaced equally about its circumference, and means to position each matrix successively to a plurality of work stations, a first work station to receive the end of a copper wire to a predetermined depth in the matrix at that work station, the matrix cooperating with a first stationary guide-forming countershear means through which the copper wire is fed, to shear the end of the copper wire to form the body of a workpiece, and to carry the severed piece to a second work station when the rotatable plate is indexed to the next station where the end of the short workpiece body is contacted by the end of a silver wire in a first welding chamber where an electric welding current is passed through the contacting surfaces to weld the silver wire to the copper workpiece. The silver wire is then advanced until the weld, and a predetermined length of silver wire enters the matrix which cooperates with a second stationary guide-forming countershear means to shear the silver wire adjacent the weld as the matrix is moved to carry the workpiece to the next successive work station where the second end of the copper body of the now bimetal workpiece is contacted by a second silver wire in a welding chamber positioned on the other side of the rotatable plate from said first welding chamber and the silver wire is welded to the copper of the workpiece, the second silver wire is then advanced into the matrix a predetermined distance and the matrix, in cooperation with a third fixed guide, shears the second silver wire as the plate carries the workpiece forward to a final station where the now trimetal workpiece is simultaneously shaped by upsetting, and ejected from the matrix.

摘要: A pill-shaped billet which is tapered in thickness toward an outer, relatively thin rim, extending circumferentially therearound, is cold formed into a metal part having an annular flange. Upper and lower die elements define cavities, and shoulders extending circumferentially therearound, and are positioned in a sleeve with the shoulders being directly opposed, thereby defining an annular space. The billet is placed between the upper and lower die elements in the sleeve with the rim of the billet in the annular space. The upper and lower die elements contact the billet only along the edges between their respective shoulders and cavities. When the upper and lower die elements are moved toward each other, the annular flange is formed by extruding radially outward the part of the billet between the shoulders, while simultaneously cold forming the billet into the first and second cavities.
