摘要： A machine control system for a multi-spindle machine includes a controller (42, 86). The controller is operative to reduce the risk of potentially damaging machining chip formation by controlled disengagement of a low speed clutch (18) of a transmission (14) which drives spindles (36) which rotate work pieces. Automatically selectively varying timing and duration of periods of disengagement of the low speed clutch breaks the continuity of chips to reduce the risk of developing damaging conditions as a result thereof.

摘要： A drill press has variable speed drive via belts on stepped pulleys that transfer rotational force from the motor to the drill press spindle. Three stepped pulleys connected by two belts are provided in the example. A belt tension roller is bears against one of the belts to provide tension for effective power transfer from the motor to the spindle. The belt tension roller is adjustable along an arcuate slot in an anchor plate and is fastenable in position by an adjustment knob on the belt tension roller. The middle pulley is mounted to vary its position so that tension adjustments on one belt by the belt tension roller result in tension adjustments on the second belt as well.

The collar is axially movable along the output shaft between a first position in which the collar couples the first driven gear to the hub for co-rotation with the output shaft, and a second position in which the collar couples the second driven gear to the hub for co-rotation with the output shaft.

摘要： A multi-spindle automatic lathe comprises several workpiece spindles driven by separate drive motors through gear units arranged outside the spindle circle. The motors are disposed behind the spindle drum in positions to which the indexing of the spindle drum brings the gear units, so that the gear units can then be coupled to the motors through cone friction clutches comprising parts mounted on the gear units to be displaceable along the axes of the drive output shafts and engage axially non-displaceable parts of the clutches transmitting the drive from said shafts. In the event of axial misalignment each axially non-displaceable clutch part is so connected to its drive output shaft through a cardan shaft that said clutch part can move radially and compensate for the misalignment.

摘要： A straight dental handpiece comprising a pair of telescoping housing barrels which can swivel relative each other, one containing a chuck and the other containing a vane type air motor. A change speed transmission is entrained between the motor and the chuck, such transmission being adjustable to change speeds by relative endwise movement of the barrels. Opening and closing of the chuck is accomplished by relative rotation thereof a limited amount. A reversing valve, also on the handpiece, is movable into either of two positions to apply air under pressure to either of two passages to drive the motor in one direction or the other.

摘要： A spindle control for a multiple spindle automatic bar machine tool is disclosed with the machine tool being one having a spindle carrier journaled in a frame for indexable rotation about an axis. A plurality of bar receiving rotatable spindles are journaled in the spindle carrier and an electric clutch and brake unit is provided within the length of the spindle carrier for each spindle with the clutch and brake unit having a small enough outside diameter to pass through one of the end openings of the spindle carrier during manufacture and having a sufficiently large inside diameter to accept bar workpieces through the hollow spindle. Collets are provided in each spindle to grip the bar workpieces and are actuated by means which has no relative rotation between the collet actuator and the finger holder sleeve on each spindle, yet permits relative indexing movement between each sleeve and the collet actuator.
