Abstract:
A saw guide pad seal enables recycling of the coolant/lubricant used in a lumber sawing operation. The saw guide pad seal directs the coolant to coolant return chambers. The coolant return chambers have a negative pressure developed from the motion of the saw blade or provided by a vacuum pump or blower, and return the coolant to the coolant tank. A heat-exchanger is optionally used to control the temperature of the coolant, providing more consistent operation of the saw, and a filter is optionally used to remove contaminants before the recycled coolant is provided to the saw blade(s).
Abstract:
A cutting tool and process for the formation thereof. The cutting tool comprises a basic body (1) presenting an active end portion (2) coated with a diamond film obtained by the CVD growth technique, having superficial accidents (10) that are arranged and dimensioned to produce a substantial increase of the seating area for the diamond film and an increased degree mechanical interference with the latter. This invention refers to the cutting tool above and to the process of obtaining said tool, generally used for cutting, drilling, abrading and trimming, and particularly to be coupled to ultrasonic systems.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for cutting a plastic optical fiber having a cladding layer. The method includes a plurality of cutting steps for performing rough cutting under a rough cutting condition and finish cutting under a controlled cutting condition. With this method, since a load applied to an optical fiber upon cutting is reduced, degradation of transmission characteristics of the optical fiber after cutting can be reduced.
Abstract:
A semiconductor wafer having an adhesive resin layer formed on the back side is cut with a cutting blade driven to rotate. At the time of cutting, the front side of the semiconductor wafer is spurted with a cooling medium such as pure water having a temperature of 15null C. or less, preferably 10null C. or less.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for separating products mounted on a common substrate, from each other, along (a) cutting line(s). The products each comprise one or more chips present on said substrate and connecting means connected thereto, the connecting ends remote from the chip of which are provided with solder balls bonded thereto. The products are clamped down on a supporting element by using a sub-atmospheric pressure, and the supporting element and a rotary cutting blade are moved relative to each other along the intended cutting line so as to cut through the substrate. A liquid is supplied at the location of said cutting line on either side of the substrate.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a tape cutting device of an automatic roll tape cutter capable of automatically cutting a tape fed out by a proper length. The tape cutting device includes: a frame detachably assembled onto the front surface of a case of the tape cutter, and having a slot formed therethrough and movable blade guide channels formed on both sides of the rear surface thereof; a fixed blade mounted on the upper portion of the rear surface of the frame; a movable blade mounted on the lower portion of the rear surface of the frame in such a manner as to be parallel with the fixed blade, and having a horizontal hole formed on one side of the lower end thereof, an inclined hole formed on the other side of the lower end thereof, and a sensor inserting hole formed at the center thereof; and a lubricating oil supply part for supplying lubricating oil to sides of the blades or a side of the fixed blade or the movable blade.
Abstract:
This invention provides patterned tread strips of uniform shape and dimension from salvaged tire carcass tread strips adapted for producing products requiring stacked layers of tread strips. Novel methods of and apparatus for shaping the tread strips in one embodiment results in trimming edges of substantially rectangular shaped tread strips salvaged from tire carcasses having two shorter ends and two longer sides to produce precisely uniform width between the longer sides. Thus the longitudinal tread strips may be passed from one end longitudinally through a power actuated strip feeder which establishes slicing means operable at designated spacings near opposite edges of the tread strips to cut away edges and produce uniform longitudinal strip widths between said two shorter ends as the strips pass through the strip feeder. Other shaping embodiments of the invention include tread surface shavers for producing strips of precise thickness, and length cutters to provide specified lengths. Apertures and indentations are introduced in the tread strips and strip rubber and fabric is relieved of inherent tensions and compressions by means of laser treatment in other embodiments of the invention, thus providing a set of tools for a system of comprehensively shaping tread strips at serial processing stations located along a transit path.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a coated optical fiber for coupling to a face of an optical device includes placing the coated fiber so that it extends through a stripping station, a cleaning station and a cleaving station. A stripper at the stripping station is brought into engagement with the fiber and relative motion between the fiber and the stripping station, the cleaning station and the cleaving station is effected lengthwise of the fiber, whereby the coating is stripped from a medial length segment of the fiber as the cleaning device at the cleaning station is activated for cleaning fragments of coating material from the medial length segment of the fiber as the medial length segment passes through the cleaning station and the cleaning device is deactivated and stripping is discontinued. The fiber is positioned with the medial length segment at the cleaving station, the fiber is clamped at a location that is upstream of the cleaving station with respect to the direction from the stripping station to the cleaving station, and the fiber is cleaved within the medial length segment, thereby providing the fiber with a freshly cleaved end region.
Abstract:
A portable bandsaw mill for sawing logs which has an elevated horizontal rail extending between first and second end frames, a carriage component mounted on the rail and means slidably movable therealong, a drive motor and a saw blade assembly mounted on opposite sides of the horizontally extending rail to substantially counterbalance each other, and a log support extending between the first and second end frames, the log support being inclined. The above arrangement permits a very light compact sawmill which may be easily transported and set up at different sites.
Abstract:
A method of cutting a magnetic recording medium comprising the steps of conveying a web by rollers to guide the web to a cutting blade; and cutting the web by the cutting blade in the lengthwise direction of the web so that magnetic recording mediums are formed, wherein a dynamic unbalance of at least a roller immediately before the cutting blade is made to be 20 g or smaller, and the roller guides the web to the cutting blade.
