Powder mixture is supplied into a die under a state that a center pin is located lower than the top surface of the die, after which the center pin is lifted up to a given molding position where an annular molding space is defined between the center pin and the die. The powder mixture is then compressed from upper and lower sides with an upper plunger and a lower plunger to form a pellet. The center pin and the lower plunger are simultaneously lifted up to remove the pellet out of the die.

Apparatus for manufacturing flexible tubes comprising a skirt and a head provided with a neck and a shoulder linking the neck to the skirt, the apparatus having a first zone devoted to manufacturing the skirts, a second zone devoted to manufacturing the flexible tubes, a third zone devoted to finishing the flexible tubes thus produced, a first transfer device transferring the skirts in continuous motion from the first zone to the second zone, and a second transfer device transferring, in continuous motion synchronized with the former, the tubes from the second zone to the third zone. The second zone has a third transfer device for transferring the punches in continuous motion synchronized with that of the first transfer device and with that of the second transfer device, loading device for loading the skirts on the punches associated with the synchronized movement of said first and third transfer devices, and unloading devices for freeing the punches from the tubes covering them for associated with the synchronized movement of the second and third transfer devices.

A method and apparatus for compression molding plastic articles such as closures include a plurality of tools mounted in opposed pairs with the tools of each pair including opposed male and female mold sections. The tool pairs are mounted for motion in an endless path. The tool pairs and associated mold sections are closed during motion in the path for compression a molding charge in the mold cavity formed between the mold sections of each pair, and opening the mold cavity to release an article formed between the mold sections. A latch mechanism is associated with each pair of tools for holding the tools and mold sections in the closed position during motion in the path independent of the mechanism for closing the tools and mold halves. In this way, forces imparted to the mold halves and tools to hold the mold closed are isolated from the machine frame. The latch mechanism is selectively unlatched to permit opening of the mold halves and release of the article compression-molded between the mold halves.

A strip casting device (2) has a casting container (14) from which through a casting gap (15) two different masses (12, 13) of a material flowable with the addition of heat are poured out as a strip (3) onto a cooling device (4). The second mass (13) is at the same time ejected by way of injection nozzles (21, 22) into the region of the casting gap (15) into the casting flow of the first mass (12). The injection nozzles are preferably movable in various directions.

Machine for forming caps by compression molding comprising: a first carousel rotating about a central axis and provided peripherally with a plurality of compression molding units mounted equidistant from each other and from the axis of rotation, said units comprising an upper punch and a lower die provided with a cavity, said punch and die being mutually movable along a common vertical axis in response to suitable operating means; a second carousel rotating about a central axis parallel to that of the first carousel and provided peripherally with means for feeding the charge of material to be molded to the die cavities of the first carousel, and means for collecting the molded caps abandoned by the punches of the first carousel; means for feeding charges of material to be molded to said second carousel; a possible third carousel provided peripherally with means for guiding and conveying the caps abandoned by the second carousel; said first and second carousel and said second and possible third carousel having their respective means positioned on circumferences which are mutually tangential at one point; comprising at least one further second carousel associated both with respective means for feeding the material to be molded and with the possible third carousel, such as to form a system having at least two second carousels distributed angularly equidistant external to the first carousel, so that each mould implements at least two forming cycles for each revolution of the carousel, the two cycles being effected along travel arcs of the first carousel which are at least partly superposed.

A rotary tableting press includes a turret with upper and lower carousels in which upper and lower punch assemblies are removably supported. The upper and lower punch assemblies include punch casings having a central opening and a punch slidably received in the central opening of the casing. The upper and lower punches are normally biased away from one another. Rollers are positioned on the tablet press and adapted to engage the punches to direct the upper and lower punches toward one another to compress material placed between the punches to form a tablet.

The invention provides methods and molding devices for molding three-dimensional products from a mass of foodstuff which is suitable for human consumption, in particular from a mass of meat, in particular chicken. The method comprises filling a mold cavity with a portion of the mass under the influence of a filling pressure exerted on the mass and for a filling period via a filling opening associated with the mold cavity, closing the filling opening of the mold cavity and holding the mass in the mold cavity for a fixing period. Then, the mold cavity is opened and the molded product is removed from the mold cavity. The method uses fixing-pressure-exerting means which are designed to exert a fixing pressure which acts on the mass in the mold cavity after the filled mold cavity has been closed.
