    摘要： Novel processes for the production of a smooth translucent glass sheet comprise grinding at least one face of a clear glass sheet using a conventional abrasive such as sand. Preferably the clear glass sheet is a short of clear float glass. The process may be carried out using a conventional glass grinding and polishing facility operated in a manner that the ground sheet is ground but not polished. The product preferably has a satin finish and a roughness Ra of less than 5.0 &mgr;M and is sufficiently translucent as to be useful in privacy glazing. The ground glass products may have a haze value of from 80 to 90% and an Ra value of from 1.0 &mgr;M to 3.0 &mgr;M are believed to bc novel.

In order to achieve the purposes, the present invention provides separate paper for a process comprising a substrate and a separate layer formed in at least one side of the substrate, wherein a surface of the separate layer has polygonal shaped figures which are as a combination thereof a surface view of a repeated hills-and-valleys pattern of the separate layer, and at least one side of each polygon is set so as to be at an acute angle to the direction of applying a synthetic resin paste for forming synthetic leather on the separate layer; the paper wherein a surface of the separate layer has a combination of closed-outline figures which is a view of a repeated hills-and-valleys pattern, wherein a curved-line portion of the closed-outline figure is an out-curved convex curve and crosses the application direction of the synthetic resin paste for forming synthetic leather on the separate layer, and the paper wherein the side faces of the valley part of the pattern on the separate layer are at an angle of 30 degrees or higher to the perpendicular line of the substrate.

    摘要： The abutted face plates of frame members are joined using friction stir welding. Next, a connection member is mounted on seats formed in the frame members, while a projection of one end of the connection member is inserted into a groove of an end portion of a face plate of the frame member. Next, the other end of the connection member is temporarily welded to the face plate of the hollow frame member. With this condition, an abutted portion of the face plate and the connection member are joined using friction stir welding. Then, the overlapped portion between the other end of the connection member and the frame member is joined by friction stir welding. When the hollow frame members are welded from one side, a temporary welding of the connection member can be reduced.

The scanner causes a shadow effect on the texture based on the scanning direction. The digitized texture is then edited to define a selected shape. The texture within the selected shape is offset such that its direction is changed. The digitized texture is then engraved by a laser onto the surface of an article. The selected shape is then visually distinct from the other areas of the texture at certain viewing angles caused by the difference in their texture direction. With the present invention, lines or seams between areas of the texture are eliminated.
