Abstract:
The invention relates to a printing sleeve and a method for producing a sless printing sleeve particularly for a flexo printing cylinder with the printing sleeve being slidable onto a core roll when flexibly expanded by means of a pressurized air cushion and being slidable off therefrom. One method according to the present invention includes the following steps: forming a hollow cylindrical inner sleeve of plastic material with one or more layers with the inner diameter of the inner sleeve being slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the associated core roll; forming a hollow cylindrical outer sleeve of plastic material with one or more layers with the inner diameter thereof slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the inner sleeve; applying a rubber layer to the outer sleeve at the outer circumference thereof; sliding the outer sleeve onto the inner sleeve and while temporarily flexibly expanding the inner diameter of the outer sleeve, and securing the outer sleeve to the inner sleeve by frictional engagement; machining the rubber layer at the outer side thereof, particularly by grinding for a cylindrical circumference; and engraving the outer surface of the rubber layer.
Abstract:
A pattern formed by heat transferable duplicating substances disposed in a predetermined array on a flexible sheet is transferred by application of heat to a flexible plate mounted on a cylindrical drum. The flexible plate is prestretched on the drum. The plate can then be removed from the drum and mounted on a cylinder of a rotary press for printing pattern carbon sheets. Apparatus including the cylindrical drum and means for applying heat thereto while the drum rotates to effect transfer of the pattern is described.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a patterned stamp for patterning a contoured surface is disclosed. The method comprises providing a pliable stamp layer carrying a pattern of features, forcing the pliable stamp layer onto the contoured surface with said pattern of features facing the contoured surface; applying a fluid support layer over the pliable stamp layer on the contoured surface; solidifying the support layer to form the patterned stamp; and removing the patterned stamp from the contoured surface. A corresponding patterned stamp, imprinting method and imprinted article are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A seal carving apparatus includes a thermal head having a plurality of heat generating elements disposed in lines, and thermal drive control means that performs a control process of selectively and thermally driving the individual heat generating elements while moving the thermal head and a porous material in relative to each other with the thermal head being in abutment with the porous material, thereby forming a seal face on the porous material. The thermal drive control means controls a pulse time width for thermally driving the individual heat generating elements of the thermal head under pulse width modulation control based on gradation image data having a gradation value, thereby forming a seal with a gradation on the porous material.
