摘要： A ribbon supply cartridge for use in a card personalization machine. The ribbon supply cartridge is manually adjustable by a user before installation into the card personalization machine from a first, collapsed (or pre-use) configuration to a second, extended or open (or use) configuration. When the ribbon supply cartridge is adjusted from the first configuration to the second configuration, a distance between the supply and take-up is increased. The first, collapsed configuration may be useful for packaging or shipping the ribbon supply cartridge whereby the collapsed configuration reduces the size of the packaging or shipping box containing the ribbon supply cartridge. When the ribbon supply cartridge is to be used, the user can manually adjust the ribbon supply cartridge to the open configuration and then install the ribbon supply cartridge in the card personalization machine.

摘要： A printer with a single motor system to match torques between ribbon supply and ribbon take-up is provided. The printer comprises a ribbon supply spindle, a take-up ribbon spindle, sensors to output ribbon width and diameter at ribbon supply, and a sensor which outputs ribbon diameter at ribbon take-up. The printer is provided with a drive system providing rotation to the ribbon supply via tension on the ribbon loaded on the ribbon supply spindle and taken-up on the take-up ribbon spindle. Firmware, communicatively linked to the sensors and the drive system, is configured to calculate ribbon tension at the ribbon supply spindle, to calculate the torque required on the ribbon on the ribbon take-up spindle to match the ribbon tension at the take-up spindle to the ribbon tension at the ribbon supply spindle, and to adjust the drive system to match these torques.

摘要： A printer has a ribbon cassette with an ink ribbon wound between a feed reel and a take-up reel mounted in a stationary state independently of a carriage, so that the ink ribbon may be let off from the ribbon cassette and is recovered into the ribbon cassette by means of a print head mounted on the carriage along with the movement of the carriage in the printing direction, in which the carriage is provided with a control roller that is disposed on the transfer route of the ink ribbon and is controlled so as to transfer the ink ribbon in the length corresponding to the printing portion at every printing by the print head in the printing action in the direction of the take-up reel and to fix the ink ribbon when the carriage returns or when transferring without printing. Between the reels, a reel control mechanism is disposed for applying a rotating force of small torque of such an extent as to slip with respect to the ribbon let-off force by the print head to the both reels in the printing action in the take-up rotating direction, and applies a rotating force of large torque to the both reels when the carriage returns in the take-up rotating direction.

摘要： A cartridge for the inked ribbon of a calculating or other office machine, of the type comprising a platen, a plurality of printing styli disposed in front of the platen at a short distance therefrom, a motive shaft, two fixed stops for transverse positioning of the cartridge with respect to the platen and a longitudinal positioning block. The cartridge comprises a container of substantially parallelepipedal form having a larger side provided with a recess defining two lateral arms. An inked ribbon closed in a loop is disposed inside the container and extends therein between an inking roller and a ribbon tensioning element. The ribbon has a substantially rectilinear portion which emerges from the said lateral arms and spans the recess, parallel to the larger side. The inking roller is housed in a first of the lateral arms, is engageable by the motive shaft of the machine driving the ribbon, and has its diameter substantially equal to a smaller side of the container, while the ribbon tensioning element is housed in the second of the said lateral arms. Two abutment surfaces and a recess co-operate with the said fixed stops and the positioning block, respectively, when the cartridge is mounted on the machine in order to position the ribbon exactly with respect to the platen and the printing styli.

摘要： A heat transfer type multi-color printer which serves to automatically draw out a new ink ribbon with a simple constitution for recording. The multi-color printer includes members for holding/releasing an ink ribbon provided on a carriage which carries the recording head, and two ribbon spools of a ribbon cassette mounted on a printer body constructed to transmit unidirectional turning force of a spacing motor for moving the carriage. With this arrangement, the multi-color printer serves, when recording, to draw out the ink ribbon from one of the ribbon spools during the time the carriage moves in one direction and, serves, with the carriage moving in the opposite direction to hold the ink ribbon and to rotate the two ribbon spools for winding the ink ribbon.

摘要： A printing ribbon cassette having in a casing a supply spool carrying a printing ribbon thereon and a take-up spool on which the ribbon is wound as it is released from the supply spool having an axis of rotation which is movable as the ribbon is released therefrom. A ribbon tensioner in the casing has a base rotatably supported on a supply spool shaft, and one end engaged with the ribbon released from the supply spool, while the other end of the tensioner is engaged with a guide member in the casing. The outer end of the tensioner is movable along the guide member with the displacement of the supply spool shaft to enable one end of the tensioner to maintain a constant range of tension on the ribbon.

摘要： A drive mechanism for printer carriage and printing ribbon includes a roller for feeding an ink ribbon, a shaft rotatably mounted on the printing carriage, first and second pulleys rotatably mounted on the shaft, first and second one-way clutches for transmitting the rotation of the first and second pulleys in a predetermined direction to the shaft, a cord stretched on the first and second pulleys so as to cause translational movement of the shaft and first and second pulleys in first and second directions. In this drive mechanism, the pulleys are respectively rotated in opposite directions when they are translationally moved in the first or second direction. The rotation of these pulleys in a predetermined direction is transmitted through the first and second one-way clutches to the shaft, and the rotation thereof is transmitted through a coupler to the ink ribbon feed roller.

摘要： Apparatus for advancing equal increments of tape to a takeup reel utilizes a drive blade having an edge that tends to slip in one longitudinal direction and grip in the other. Reciprocation of the drive blade at the circumference of the accumulated tape results in incremental tape movements in the direction corresponding to gripping of the drive edge. For a preferred implementation, the drive edge has the contour of an involute. By so contouring the drive blade, the engagement at the tape circumference is essentially tangential for a broad range of diameters of the accumulated tape.
