    摘要: An all terrain vehicle has two vehicle units and an articulating link which interconnects the vehicle units in tandem. Each vehicle unit has a body and a pair of spaced crawler tracks which are powered for moving the respective vehicle unit. The articulating link has two longitudinally spaced apart pitch hinge assemblies, each of which cooperates with a respective vehicle unit to permit relative rotation therebetween about a horizontal pitch axis without interference between the vehicle units. Pitch swivelling means associated with one particular pitch hinge assembly can force relative rotation about the particular pitch axis between a particular vehicle unit and the link, so that one vehicle unit can be rotated forcibly relative to the other vehicle unit to negotiate marginal terrain. The remaining pitch hinge assembly can be either freely hinged to permit rotation about the remaining pitch axis or alternatively can have a similar pitch swivelling means. The vehicle also has a yaw hinge assembly for steering, and optionally has a roll hinge assembly to permit relative rotation about the link between the vehicle units, particularly for self-righting on hard terrain, and also for additional control and versatility. A single vehicle unit can be operable independently of the other, but performance is increased considerably by utilizing at least two vehicle units in tandem connected by the articulating link. The vehicle combination can climb up or down vertical walls of limited height from hard terrain, or can negotiate a vertical wall disposed above water a height dependent on draft of the vehicle. The vehicle combination is self-righting from an inverted position on land or immersed in water.

    摘要: An adjustable length upper guide member for the hitch attachment of a tractor has an outer tubular guide element within which is telescopingly positioned an inner guide element so as to be relatively displaceable thereto. A housing on the outer guide element has a pair of jaws pivotally mounted therein and the jaws each have first arms which are engageable with annular grooves on the inner guide element and second arms which form actuating cams facing each other. An operating lever has an eccentric portion within the housing and one side of the eccentric portion is engageable against the housing and the other side of the eccentric portion engageable with the actuating cams so that pivoting of the lever causes the eccentric portion to act upon the cams and pivot the jaws to a disengaged position. A support lever is pivotally connected to the operating lever so as to support the operating lever in the position in which the jaws are disengaged.

    摘要: A sensing element in the towbar of an aircraft towing tractor continuously measures the traction and pressure forces transmitted between the tractor and the aircraft. An automatic control unit uses the measured values to adjust the traction-effect of the tractor, and/or the braking of the aircraft -- either singly or in combination -- to keep the towbar forces within a predetermined permissible interval. In one operating mode, braking signals generated by the tractor operator actuate the aircraft brakes directly, the tractor brakes being applied by the automatic control unit only if the towbar traction force exceeds the permitted limits. For additional safety, a separate force sensor may actuate an emergency release system to separate the aircraft from the tractor in response to towbar forces outside a predetermined range.
