Abstract: A brake system is provided for a trailer vehicle having a plurality of axles, each of which has a wheel end on a respective side of the vehicle, the brake system including first and second pneumatic circuits for supplying air pressure to brake devices at the wheel ends. The system includes a spring brake modulator valve arrangement adapted to control pressure to spring brakes on the vehicle, which modulator valve arrangement receives an input from at least one of the pneumatic circuits and a control pressure from the trailer brake module. Flow of air to the brakes is controllable either by the trailer brake module or by the spring brake modulator valve arrangement to provide redundancy.

Abstract: A method for controlling the brakes of a vehicle combination having a towing vehicle and an attached accessory device or at least one trailer vehicle coupled to the towing vehicle. The vehicle combination comprises an electronic brake system and first sensor means for determining the driving speed, where at least the towing vehicle comprises a friction brake system that can be actuated by the brake control system, and where at least the coupled attached accessory device or trailer vehicle has second sensor means for recognizing a need to brake the vehicle combination and for signaling a braking demand. A signaled braking demand is communicated directly or indirectly to the brake control system, and the vehicle combination is braked automatically by the brake control system actuating the friction brake system of the towing vehicle.

Abstract: An electronically-controlled tractor protection control module in a tractor prevents air flow from an air reservoir to a gladhand when a signal is received that indicates a trailer is not coupled with the gladhand. This prevents air from being vented out the gladhand when the tractor's service brakes are applied. However, a failure can occur that prevents this signal from being received or acted upon, which would result in air being vented out the gladhand. To address this problem, an air flow restrictor is used to limit the amount of air that is vented in such a situation.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for automatically controlling braking and/or wheel speed at a dolly to increase maneuverability. In one form, a system comprises a memory, a first sensor, and at least one processor. The first sensor is configured to determine at least one of a distance from a dolly to a forward trailer or an angle from the dolly to the forward trailer. The at least one processor is configured to: determine that a forward trailer is moving in a reverse direction; determine a steering angle of a vehicle coupled to the forward trailer; measure a rotation of the forward trailer based on information received from the first sensor; and apply at least one of braking or wheel speed control to at least one wheel of the dolly based on the measured rotation of the forward trailer and the determined steering angle of the forward trailer.

Abstract: A method for checking an actual-pressure sensor of a motor vehicle brake system includes establishing the duration of a reaction interval, establishing a threshold value, operating the motor vehicle brake system in an electronic braking mode where the brake system delivers a braking pressure for operation of a trailer brake of a trailer connected to the motor vehicle. The reaction interval starts at the beginning of the braking process and pneumatic actual braking pressure values are measured by means of an actual-pressure sensor, where a starting braking pressure is measured by the actual-pressure sensor at the beginning of a braking process carried out in the electronic braking mode for the trailer. Pneumatic reaction braking pressures are measured within the reaction interval and compared to a threshold value. Brake system operation is discontinued in the electronic operating mode if none of the measured reaction braking pressures exceeds the threshold value.

Abstract: A military vehicle includes a passenger capsule having a front end and a rear end, a front module coupled to the front end of the passenger capsule, a rear module coupled to the rear end of the passenger capsule, a generator, and an export power kit. The front module includes a front subframe, a prime mover, a front axle assembly, and a front differential coupled to the front axle assembly. The rear module includes a rear subframe, a rear axle assembly, and a transaxle coupled to the rear axle assembly, the prime mover, and the front differential. The generator is configured to be driven by the prime mover to generate electricity. The export power kit is coupled to the generator and configured to facilitate exporting power off of the military vehicle.

In an exemplary embodiment, one or more sensors onboard a vehicle are configured to provide sensor data, and a processor onboard the vehicle is configured to at least facilitate: monitoring a trailer sway of the trailer using the sensor data, based on one or more parameters of the sensor data representing the trailer sway and application of a band-pass filter to the one or more parameters; and mitigating the trailer sway, via instructions provided by the processor to one or more braking systems of the vehicle, the trailer, or both, when it is determined that the trailer sway of the trailer is sufficient to warrant mitigation based on the one or more parameters of the sensor data representing the trailer sway and the application of the band-pass filter to the one or more parameters.
